“Once in a life time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2013 via mobile

We spent two nights with the elephants hills crew as part of our honeymoon. One night at the main camp and one night at the rainforest camp.

It was completely amazing, getting to agent time with the elephants and swimming at the dam was just perfect. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Our guide Vicky was friendly and full of giggles.

I loved it so much I almost cried at the thought of leaving.

Thanks guys!!!

If you get the chance to go here, then do. Everything about it is magnificent. The 2 camps are set in equally spectacular settings, the people are unremittingly helpful and friendly, the food is great and it was really hard to leave.

We stayed for one night having being collected from our hotel in Kao Lak.
The journey up was pleasant and interesting.
Our bags had magically arrived at our tent which was far beyond our expectations.
After a good lunch we were whisked off in an ancient landrover to the elephant camp.
We take animal warefare very seriously and were pleased to see that the elephants were well cared for by their mahmouts. Feeding and bathing the elephants was fun.
Then off to the river trip, a good opportunity to see the stunning limestone gorge and a little wildlife.
Dinner was tasty and a chance to catch up with other guests.
Next morning it was fun to awaken to the sounds of the forest in the mist including gibbons and hornbills.
After breakfast it was off for a jungle trek. This is reasonably strenuous and the thai curry cooked over an open fire was very welcome.
A walk through a river, a glimpse of a large monitor lizard time for a shower and then off to our next hotel.
Wouldnt have missed it for the world!

At first, the price tag made me hesitant about booking with Elephant Hills. If you have the same reservations, let me assure you that it is worth every dollar. We stayed for 2 days, 1 night and my only regret is that we could not stay longer.

Upon arrival, we were offered refreshments, the staff went over our itinerary, and we were shown to our tent. Honestly, the tents are nicer than most rooms we've stayed at during our travel in SE Asia. The beds are very comfortable and the sounds of the outdoors are amazing to fall asleep to. Our first activity was to kayak down the river...or rather, be kayaked down the river. At first we felt bad, but it was really nice (and much less exhausting) to have a guide to do the paddling as well as point out any interesting animals along the way.

The highlight of our stay was next when we arrived at the elephant camp. Our guides explained to us the relationship between the elephant and mahout and you could tell the elephants were well taken care of (which is part of the reason you are not allowed to ride them). We prepared food and then fed the elephants which is a pretty wild experience. Next we bathed the elephants and then met the recently born baby elephant, Ha Ha. Really cute!

Our last excursion was a jungle trek the following morning. We hiked about 2 hours, stopping along the way for pictures and explanations from our guide about our surroundings. We're definitely not athletes (though not too out of shape) and the hike was not strenuous for us.

The food was good overall and the staff is fantastic. I couldn't offer a higher recommendation for Elephant Hills and hope we get the chance to come again.

We stayed at Elephant Hills for 3 nights 4 days over Christmas and everyone worked very hard to bring a real Christmas feel to Thailand. If you have a chance to stay at Elephant Hills grab it with both hands as it is a unique opportunity to enjoy everything the rainforest has to offer. We got up close to elephants including HaHa the baby elephant born at the camp. Elephant hills is not just about elephants we explored all the river has to offer on guided tours and our own kayak. We had a guided tour through the rainforest, cookery demonstrations, traditional dancing from the local school and lots more. We also had time to relax and swim in the pool! The tents are very comfortable and unlike a hotel room allow you to have a real feel of sleeping in the rainforest. The food is excellent and there is always something waiting for you to nibble on when you return from any trips away from the camp. All the staff are very friendly and helpful. Our guide Sam was excellent. He was always smiling and had an excellent knowledge of every part of the national park we visited. He could answer all our questions - even the really stupid ones!
Thank you to everyone at Elephant Hills for making our stay so memorable one.

I was with Nann Dawn and family and would just like to reiterate what she has already said. It was such a fantastic experience, far exceeding my expectations. Loved both camps and Staff were brilliant on both sites. I respect the fact that the elephants are not used for riding, only by their mahouts. It was wonderful experience being able to feed them and wash them. Well done Jonathan for bringing about that change. I would also like to compliment Jonathan and the team for their conservation work. I would recommend this experience to everyone of any age.

While visiting my daughter and family in Bangkok with my sister we where taken to elephant hills to see the elephants. It was a fantastic experience and would recommend to anyone.Being of the older generation i was a little worried as have never camped, but it was fantastic the tents where luxurious with comfy beds and bathroom,it was also good to see the work done with the elephants you don,t ride them but you prepare food and feed them also bath them,we also went rafting and where treated to some Thai dancing by the local children. The food was good the staff where excellent, also we spent a night on the Lake which was a good experience. The only way to get there is by Long Tail boat which was an experience. Also the tents are luxurious, the food is good, the staff are lovely and you get to chill out or kayak, swim in the lake .The whole trip was fantastic.

Room Tip: all tents have same facilities
