“Absolutely Beautiful - Great find!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2011

I stayed here with my daughter at the end of March for 2 nighs. First night was in the Tree House, which is beautifully kept with lovely little touches; a real experience. Although I have to say that I am a scardy cat, and didnt enjoy the fact that there were quite a lot of gaps that the animals, mainly insects surroundng us coud come in and sleep with us too :-)

Mrs Phon and her husband Lee are grand and so, so helpful. The property grounds are beautifully kept, and both breakfast and dinner were excellent in both quality and price. Our second night was in one of the bungaloes and I have to say I much prefered them to the tree house. More space, and tad more encsed and for only 500 bhats a bargain!!

This is a greta place to stay, and if returnig we would definately stay again!! Thank you both

Room Tip: Path from Main Rd quite dark at night have torch!

The good thing I liked it here was there were surrounded by trees and garden. We stayed in a tree house which was well-maintained. The room was clean and comfortable.

Food was the best I've had in Thailand's resorts. It was authentic, I mean real Thai food with hot and chilli, not western-style Thai food.

The staffs were also friendly and had good knowledge of Khao Sok area.

Over all, I liked this place. Enjoyed my stay and good for the money.

This place was wonderful, I loved the treehouse, which was far enough away from the others it felt secluded. Our bathroom looked brand new, we actually heard gibbons in the mornings and throughout the day. The service was fantastic, they were eager to please and provided good, simple, tasty food. They do laundry cheap and I can honestly say this is the best location in the park, right under the cliffs, next to the river and with easy walking distance to other restaurants and the NP entrance.

They were a bit pushy with the tours but really apart from relaxing there is not much else to do. The owner is the sister of a park ranger and the lake tours and trekking is enjoyable just DON'T DO THE ELEPHANT RIDE (run by an external operator). The elephant ride was depressing, we went back and forth on a small, crowded filthy track that stunk. I saw one mahout whipping the elephant, another had head injuries and ours hit the elephant we were on with what looked like half a pick axe (he hit her with the blunt wooden/metal end). We didn't even want to stay around and feed them bananas it was so sad. If you want to do an elephant ride do it in Chiang Mai or near Phuket with one of the eco operators. It will be the same price or cheaper and far more enjoyable. We did one in Chiang Mai with Eagle House and it was so much fun.

We spend four nights in Baan Khao Sok in one of the tree houses. They are very nice, big enough with toilet and warm shower, clean and confortable. The family who runs this place is very friendly and the garden absolutely beautiful with a lot of plants, trees, flowers and vegetables. Baan Khao Sok is very quiet, because it is not on the main road, but on a side path along the river. We enjoyed our stay a lot.

Baan Khao Sok Resort is a real treat. It is situated off, but far enough away from, the main road into ‘town’, immediately adjacent to the Khao Sok river. The setting is truly beautiful: flowing river, dramatic Karst outcrops and a tropical orchard and garden. The temperature is good too, being a couple of degrees cooler than the Thailand average.

The resort accommodation consists of seven or eight bungalows and three or four tree houses. Our children stayed in one of the tree houses whilst we stayed in a bungalow. Both types of accommodation are comfortable, though the tree houses have that extra wow factor. Our bungalow had a fan, electrical points, two comfortable single beds (pushed together to form a double), an ensuite with electric shower, and a veranda with chairs and hammock. The accommodation is rustically attractive, being made out of wood, bamboo and rattan.

Khao Sok is also a very welcoming and friendly resort. The owners, Lek and Pawn, are lovely. I phoned to say we were on our way from Surat Thani, and Pawn said that her husband, Lek, would pick us up from the bus stop – no charge, just part of the welcome. In fact, this level of service was consistent throughout our stay. Whatever we wanted whenever we wanted it, Lek and Pawn were happy to oblige. Charming people.

If you come to the Khao Sok area, you are coming for the beauty and the nature. Lek will organise activities and trips for you to make the most of the this very special place: canoeing, tubing (floating down the river on inner tubes), day trips to the nearby Cheow Lan Lake, day and overnight jungle treks, treks to visit the Rafflesia flower (we were lucky, it was in bloom), and, not least, night safaris. By the way, each of the trips mentioned above is fantastic, but for me the best bit was trekking in the jungle, following animal tracks – the flora and fauna was breathtaking. We saw chameleons, macaques, langars, mouse deer, barking deer, slow loris – the list goes on.

Canoeing and tubing should also not be missed (regarding the latter, Lek will take you the first time, but after that you can borrow the inner tubes for free and go yourself). Again, there is no better word to describe this than breathtaking.

The flora and fauna in the resort itself is also impressive. Over our week long stay we saw lizards, butterflies, moths, dragon flies, frogs, bats, snakes, a praying mantis, fish and even a wild tortoise.

So, great place, in a great setting with great hosts. Highly recommended.

Baan Khao Sok is family owned and run and is maintained to a very high standard. We were made to feel welcome from the beginning and were very impressed with how clean and tidy the whole complex was. The room was a bamboo bungalow and a good size for what we paid. It was like a luxury tarzan retreat and we loved it. On arrival we were invited to tag along onto a trek that the owner and his son were leading. They were very informative telling us about all the local plants and wildlife and we thoroughly enjoyed it (all for free!!!!!). The restaurant was very nice and the food of a good standard. The family were fantastic, friendly, approachable, helpful and always smiling. We loved our stay here and only wish we stayed for longer. Khao Sok National Park is a hidden gem and a must see, and is away from the main tourist areas. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

This place is terrific. I can't say enough about it. They were so accomodating. The food here is the best. The jungle hut was clean, comfortable and well-attended. The staff were knowledgeable and also clean and friendly. It was like staying with a family.
