We stayed one night at this hotel on the Kok River while waiting for a longtail boat to Chiang Rai. We very much enjoyed the beautiful view from the restaurant terrace over to Tha Ton and Wat Tha Ton and its fascinating Crystal Pagoda up the hill behind.
We stayed in one of several sturdy bungalows around a small grove of trees for 500 baht. It was neat and clean and the attached bath was particularly well designed.
Unfortunately, the room was not air conditioned and smelled of mildew. The only air conditioned rooms were on the riverfront and cost three times as much.
The owners would be well advised to air condition the bungalows and charge just a little more for them. Tha Ton has a lot going for it and it would be worth the investment.
