Had to take a few business trips to Katsina recently and tried various hotels. The Katsina Motel comes top of the list, but it’s not really much of a choice. Reasonably new buildings set in a largish compound it looks quite attractive. Prices for a normal room come down to NGN 9,000 after some severe negotiations. Rooms look ok initially, but quite a few things don’t work. Stayed in two rooms, and something was always broken, either the AC or the water heater. The bathroom floors look pretty disgusting as they seem to have some fungus problems.
On the plus side, the bed was comfortable although the sheets were not what one could call clean. Food for breakfast was ok, but definitely would stay away from the restaurant for anything else. Ate there once and it was horrible. Dried old chicken on rice that was flowing with oil. Also there is no alcohol. There is a decent place 5 minutes away called Fadama Hotel where you can sit outside, have a beer and eat some great fresh chicken and fish.
Given the two other hotel I tried in Katsina this was the best one, but don’t expect very much.
