“A replic of Garden of Eden”

Oh, well....a bit pricier than the next city ( Caldas Novas) but ten times better. The food, the crew, the ambience, the guests....it's hard to not have a perfect time in that place. I would go 3 times every year if I could. Gorgeous scenario !

Room Tip: Choose a hotel OUTSIDE the resort, they are newer. If you have people in your group with a hard time...

There are 3 hotels in the complex (pousada, turismo and cristal). The turismo is the best cost x benefit option. It has decent (not renovated) rooms. The restaurant is a lot better than the pousada’s one, considering menu, noise and the space. On Saturdays there is a very good feijoda there. The cristal hotel is the new fancy and expense one.

The downside of turismo is regarding the swimming pools and options for hanging out at night near to the hotel. There are only two swimming pools and the good ones require a long walk. It might be needed get the resort’s minivans to get there if you have elderly or young kids.

The water park is crowded, really packed during the day due to the hotel guests and people that pay for a day entrance. So, watch out if you are going in a high seasons. It can be very frustrating.

My kids loved it and the hot water is nice to relax. However, I did not have the guts to stay longer on the swimming pools where there were lot of people drinking beer.

I am a frequent traveller and like travelling with my family whenever possible to well known resorts and good hotels around the world. It was out first time in Rio Quente. We made our reservations using the official agent (Valetur) for one of the national holidays (Sept 7th) and despite our request to stay somewhere nice within the resort, we were sent to one of their hotels outside of the main complex (Flat III).The hotel structure is very simple, with poor meal options at their only restaurant. The food is very, very simple and does not reflect the rate they charge. The location of Flat III is around 900 meters from the main gate of the resort and in light of the hot and dry weather, it is not advisable to take a walk. Better get one of the hop on, hop off buses to Hot Park. The transport to Hot Park works on a timely fashion (every 15 mins), but they are always crowded and the staff is unable to provide you with accurate information on the natural attractions or even simple instructions on how to get towels. You'll probably struggle to get information as my family did. On Saturday Sept 8th the unofficial information was that there was 8000 people circulating in the Hot Park complex. Huge lines to get a meal, snacks or drinks. Should you visit at high season, you'll have to be patient to overcome all obstacles and enjoy the heated pools and local attractions. The information boards don't show you where you are and you have to figure it yourself before deciding where to go next. The staff is more concerned to sell you packages (time sharing, photos, vacation packages, tickets to scuba diving, to BirdLand - the latter at BRL 48 per person - , and to other activities) rather than helping you to enjoy the park. Hosts of the Resort are able to access the Fountain Park, where the fresh heated water mines are located. Up in this area, there are several pools with "wet bars" serving 24/7, a nice gym and a spa. The area is really beautiful, but again, the staff has to help more for the price you'll pay and expectations you'll have. To be honest, the structure of the attractions within the complex is very good, but the management is poor. In summary, Disney prices for amateur services. You'll have to lower your expectations and quality standards to enjoy the resort.

Room Tip: Stay in the hotels within the complex (Pousada, Turismo and Cristal) as the time it takes to get to...

My daughter and I stayed 4 days at Hotel Pousada (June 7-10). Location is great, close to eveything. Rooms, sheets and towels are very clean. Food is very good, but not great. Buffet breakfast and lunch were included and there were nice options. The place was crowded, though and they weren´t prepared for all of us. At front desk, not even a welcome. The girl didn´t explain anything. At restaurants and bars, staff was definetly lost.
There is a pizza place in front of the hotel (nice pizza) and also a restaurant where you may order meat, chicken, pasta, etc. for dinner. There is a buffet dinner at another restaurant too, but we didn´t try it.
Actually, it´s a place for you to relax in natural heated pools. And the area is very well taken care. Pools are open 24 hours, and grown ups can be at ease late at night, since kids go to bed... I like kids, but it´s also good to enjoy the quiet... There are some interesting slides and even an artificial beach. Nice place to stay for 4 or 5 days.
