My wife and I enjoyed this tour very much. What made it so special were the guides who try to get to know each individual and also the way in which they help you share their love and connection with this beautiful forest. The tour is a little pricey, but the guides aren't making much money -- the park needs this money to protect the forest from invasive animals and also human destruction. In order to enjoy this tour for everything it can give you, I would recommend going in with a genuine interest in nature and in Maori history and culture. Also, it can get a little chilly at night, so bring a warm coat. Just slow down, forget about all the usual tourist things to check off the bucket list, and try something new and different. I would recommend this tour without hesitation, and I would consider the tour fee as a kind of donation that goes towards saving this beautiful enchanting forest.
