“A RETREAT LIKE NO OTHER!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2013

We had the best experience, the place is wonderful, filled with nature, extremely exquisite landscaping, calming thermal water pool, great spa and of course the food is great! Everything is organic, and they have grow their own produce!

The service is top notch, always helpful, we traveled as a family of 4, with two young kids of 5 and 2 and everybody was very attentive.
The owner and Chef Juan Carlos and his wife are always there to ensure your having a great time and cater any special requests.
We will be back soon.

Room Tip: We stayed in two connected rooms, the suite had a wonderful balcony and a separate living room that...

My wife and myself recently stayed and had dinner at Nirvana Restaurant and Retreat and very much enjoyed our stay. The pool is warm and spacious and the restaurant and grounds offer a tranquil setting where no one is rushed- very relaxing and gracious, The prices were very reasonable for good accommodations with a large balcony and our dinner was excellent. We will return someday.

I was traveling to the nearby city of Queretaro and in Dolores for work and decided with my wife to expend the week end in San Miguel since we had not gone to it in a long time. In other occasions that we had traveled to San Miguel we had stay in downtown but since we wanted to relax and rest we decided to go to the Nirvana which look a good place to just sit and enjoy the view. We were not disappointed, the gardens are beautiful, the rooms that we were in hade a beautiful view to the sunset, both had very private terraces, the rooms and hotel ambience is rustic but very functional, the food at the restaurant is very good and if you take one of the tables at the garden you can feel that you have this beautiful setting all for yourself.
The only negative thing was that when we arrive our reservations that we had made trough Booking.com 6 weeks before was not found and they did not had rooms for the second day of our stay, Nirvana said that booking did not made the reservation, booking said that they did, at first we were told that they will help us to find another hotel ant that we could stay this night in a room that they had available, then after dinner they told us that they had a cancelation so they gave us other room for the rest of our stay. This situation is the only thing that prevents me to give my stay an excellent rating since everything else was perfect.

This space is heaven on earth. The food is delicious and the service impeccable! A bit far out, but well worth the drive. Such a peaceful setting for lunch. Be sure to set aside at least 2 or 3 hours to enjoy your outdoor dining experience. The lamb is absolutely delicious!

Room Tip: I only dined at the restaurant

The drive from SMA takes about 20 minutes. We had our taxi drop us off in the town of Atotonilco. We next saw the driver repairing a flat tire he got going thru town. What we didn't know is that Nirvana is a lo-o-ong walk from the town. After a half-hour walk, we arrived at a lovely, rustic hotel and restaurant. It was a warm day and we sat outside in the perfect yard. The food was good, not great. I made the mistake or ordering the raw rolls and we both paid for that the next day. We ordered a cab and he arrived with a flat tire he got driving in! That's how rustic the setting is.

I had a very enjoyable luncheon at Nirvana with several friends. The food was excellent and the prices are reasonable, the portions generous. We had gone over there to visit the Galería Atotonilco (fabulous) and decided to stop by for a meal. There are -as is customary in Mexico-- certain "detalles" (details) that need to be fixed. For example, when we came in, the music (GOTAN PROJECT) was turned up very loud, so much so that it made it hard to talk. Secondly, the coffee was weak and cold, as if they had simply run water through old grounds. However, the details were corrected immediately and I can recommend this place highly, perhaps not so much as to warrant a trip out just for lunch, but certainly to combine with a visit to the Santuario or to the Galería Atotonilco.

Room Tip: We did not stay at the hotel.

We just had a wonderful birthday (mine) lunch at Nirvana. We go there when we want to get a little diffident atmosphere in SMA. It is very, beautiful, green.with wonderful innovative food.
We recommend it to any one traveling to SMA to stay or simply have comida.

Room Tip: We have not stayed there since we live in SMA. But we have seen the rooms and the facilities and the...
