This was my second visit to meet family for a meal.
I had read previous reviews about the Sunday roast, and found it a little hard to believe having recently been mid week where the food was okay.
However, I now have to admit that the roast dinner leaves a little to be desired.
After asking if the vegetables were fresh or frozen, I was assured the carrots were fresh. This was the only fresh vegetables. The peas were ok (can't mess them up really) carrots cooked well, frozen green beans squeaky and tasteless, boiled potatoes good, roast potatoes like rocks (would question them being homemade), Yorkshire pudding ok, beef like cardboard, gravey obvious mass produced. The worst was the colliflower cheese.... Awful.
Deserts were the usual, and worth the £2.00 on top of the main course of £7.15 (I think).
Service was a little slow from some of the staff, quicker with others.
On balance, we were asked twice, and in good time, if our meals were ok. Two of us who had dishes from the menu were very happy, but the three roast dinners were not so good, but we did not complain. So staff have not been given the chance to address the above. But it was felt that if Waterloo Cross are happy to send out this food time and time again, then any complaint may have fallen upon deaf ears. But for £7.15 what do we expect!
Would we visit again.... Yes! Why? Because the central location for a family meeting suits, the staff were friendly, but we would not have the Sunday Roast as other items on the menu are much better... However, before we return, we would look for another place to dine.
