We drove in to the park, $5 to park, not bad. You walk down hill. There is life guard stands a pavilion with picnic table and open beach of white sandy beach. You can see why its one the top ten in the world. The day we went on Wednesday was windy, so the sand was whipping a bit. Closer to the Mauna Kea Hotel there is rock and shade to put a towel or chair, otherwise your in the sun the whole time. Water is clear and beautiful. Walked from one end to the other before heading out. While there there was a class of kids with surfboards and an instructor working out before hitting the water. They had bathrooms and changing areas, very clean! If we had had more time, we would have spent the day here and brought a lunch, as there is no food vendor there at all, bring your own food and drink if you go. Its a must see heading north off Rte 19. Beautiful.
