“Amazing experience to renew yourself!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2013

We had a fantastic time from the minute we arrived and the way we were greeted, in such a lovely and authentic Balinese fashion. We stayed in one of the villas and it was well worth the expense. The resort is meticulously kept, the staff is so courteous: you feel like you've been coming to the resort for ever (even if you just arrived 2 nights ago). The spa was amazing, with these beautiful spa villas that are like heaven on earth. the river just down below the resort makes the location even more special. I would recommend to systematically ask for the more economical local driving options (rather than the hotel car) to take you to town, since people in Bali are very respectful and we havent had any experience of anyone wanting to take advantage of us.
We stayed there for 4 nights and used this as a pied-a-terre to visit the inland part of Bali. It worked out well.

Wonderful setting in the 'jungle' up on a hill with a vista over the valley below. Fabulous villa, lovely private pool, exceptional service throughout. In-room breakfast was probably the best I've had anywhere, and served with charm and style by the butlers.

We were only there for a couple of nights for a wedding, but would have loved to stay longer. Great spot for the wedding though... by the raised lily pond overhanging the hillside.

Highly recommended.

Amazing hotel, setting and incredible staff. We enjoyed the many activities they offered daily and took advantage of the village walk as well as the cycling tour. Also, we rented out the lily pond for a private dinner and that was magical. A must redo for us.
Finally, make sure you attend one of the traditional dances that they host in the lobby. They are much better than the other ones in town!

Room Tip: Get rooms close to the rice fields that the Four Season's runs. They are gorgeous.

One of the best hotels I have ever stayed. The location is perfect as the resort is really "away from it all" but we were close enough to enjoy the city of Ubud and explore a lot of the restaurants and sites near by. The hotel grounds are amazing and the villas were exactly what we were looking for. The staff spent extra time to really make sure we felt comfortable. The breakfast location was fantastic, but the food was average and not on par with the resort, but we still enjoyed it every morning. The bike ride was also incredible, although if your a couple expect it to be rough, it's a mountain bike trail for a reason and another couple had to turn around as it was rougher then anticipated. However, our guide was great and we even found some local artists to buy from from.

Would definately recommend this place to anyone in Bali and we preferred staying in the jungle over the beach as you really get exposed to the island life.

Wonderfull place to be, great Villas, paradise garden. Staff could be betteer trained, so and the cook is more on the simple side. But thats an Indonesian problem, guess, the whole country is short of good cooks and good foof. Strangem that so fe people complain about it.
Hotel is a good base to explore Ubudss surroundings and the rooms and Villas are much better then Aman Ubud. Main building unfortunately looks like the ramp of a star wars edventure! The only good thing is that you dont see it when you are inside.

Room Tip: Try a Villa near the River!

This place is truly exotic and beautiful - a peaceful, beautiful, quiet location in which to refresh and relax. It is expensive, but worth it if you want to "get away from it all." Bring someone you love and a couple of books you've wanted to find time to read.

Room Tip: All the villas are very private and, I assume, wonderful. Some must be larger to accommodate famili...

Four Season Ubud is not as well known as its brother on the coast but we found this resort to be beautiful, relaxing and amazing in every way.

Dollar for dollar you cannot get a better exotic lux lux experience unless you travel to places like Indonesia where unfortunately the labor supply is huge compared to available jobs. This will always lead to the classic imperial colonial capitalist global cannibalizing arguments which I wont go into here. Suffice to say big rich money welding thoughtless touristos are badly perceived everywhere even when their money does some good trickling down into the local economy.
No doubt Ubud's economy is so thoroughly connected to tourism that both benefit from each others presence. In this respect Four Season is one such business that has come to roost and trickle its cashflow into Ubud and Bali, Indonesia for the better I hope.

For those who can pay the freight, you will be transported to another exotic world and get glimpses into what its like to be of the less than 1% minority. It's a heady experience that the Four Seasons provides for your dollar. They excell at this sort of thing and you will find few other examples of so much exemplary refinement for your travel dollar ie: No where will your travell dollar get you as much luxury in the G10 countries.
So though the cost will feel like a ransom you will become the prince or princess in return for all the days you can afford to visit. There are a number of exoticar versions of this tropical experience to be found/ our memory of this stay was beautiful and amazing from start to finish because the people there helped make it so and for this I am so greatful to the Balinese who have graciously allowed me to visit their lands.
Go if just for 2 nts and don't leave for the the full 48hrs.
