“To short a visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012

My visit was arranged by the cruise ship which started in Southampton England. As there was a coach load of us we were greeted by one of the staff who gave us a conducted tour of the main building. Not only were the exhibits very interesting but also niceley presented, some you could actually climbe on board. What amazed me was the size of the rolling stock as the gauge is the same as in England.Although i was there over three hours i only managed to get round the main building, must go back one day.
Before going into the main building i had a ride on the tran car and the minature railway.
If you are interested in railways then you must visit the musium.

“Trains, locomotives and streetcars abound!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

This vast collection of steam and diesel locomotives, railroad cars, and street cars is a delightful way to spend a good portion of a day. My husband is a "foamer" - a true train lover - and he could have spent an entire 24 hours in there, but I enjoyed the museum too. The main building houses most of the collection, while other cars and engines are located outside near a turntable, plus an additional building holds even more. Staff is helpful and happy to share information about the museum and exhibits. Most are bi-lingual and are happy to speak to you in English if that is preferred. The main building houses a museum store, a restaurant (check on its schedule as it was closed when we visited), a model train display and a special exhibit hall. Visitors can ride an old street car around the grounds which is run by volunteers and at scheduled times can ride a miniature train which travels on a charming loop over bridges and through a tunnel. Plenty of free parking. Excellent labels give a lot of information in French and English.

“A must see if you are a train fanatic”

Great museum. A lot of old trains in very good shape and a great chance to ride in an old Montreal Tramway. A lot of fun for couples or the entire family. Very pleasant staff.

“For old time sake”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2012

Went there with my grand chidren. They had no idea what they were going to see. and many of the artifacts left them cold. Of course this is not Disneyland, so you need to prepare and complete the explanations if you go with kids.
Verry interesting though and that brought back a lot pf memories. It really worths the visit. Kids were given stuff to eat, souvenirs and all of that included in the price.
