“A truly amazing experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2011

It was a totally different experience. An ideal location to relax while maintaining total privacy. Calm and quiet location surrounded by nicely designed and eye catching environment. The personalized attention for our needs by the staff and management adds more value.

Brook Boutique Hotel is truly a nature lover’s paradise. When you turn off the main road you don’t expect to find yourself completely secluded from Sri Lanka’s hustle and bustle, in the heart of the countryside with fantastic views, only a few minutes later. The hotel is set on a coconut estate and there is interesting flora and fauna everywhere you look. The scenery is moving, especially from the beautiful pool on the hillside. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The beds are large and comfortable and a relaxing afternoon on one of the unique rocking chairs on the veranda is a must. There are beautiful touches throughout the hotel, ranging from the originally designed bar to the very welcoming lounge. The food was definitely one of the highlights of our stay as we were spoiled with a number of delicious dishes. If you are looking for a relaxing get away in a beautiful place then this hotel is definitely for you.

Room Tip: Worth paying the little extra for a superior room

In the middle of a jungle, Brook provided an oasis of service, style, tranquiltiy and comfort. From the well thought out bedroom with complementary touches, such as tropical fruits, good books and up-to-date DVD's, to the tranquiltiy and nature of the surroundings, to the spectacular pool with unrivalled views, to the dramatic designs of terrace bar and restaurant, to the green credentails and warm, friendly staff, not forgetting the food, Brook Boutique has got it right.
What a fantastic few days we had here and how well were we looked after?! Each day we had a feast for breakfast - the chef does a particularly good Sri Lankan breakfast, (although we could have chosen a British, European or American style of breakfast) - and a feast for tea - with fresh, beautifully cooked course after course. We celebrated our wedding anniversary during our stay and the staff went to town to make us feel so special with incredible and very personalised attention to detail. I also have to mention the great wines and the wonderful cocktails such as the passion fruit margherita and mohito - wow!
The hotel is off the beaten track and you pass banana, pineapple, coconut and cashew trees to get there. Definately worth the trip and we absolutely recommend this new hotel and wish the owners/directors and staff every bit of sucess as it is well worth it.

I went to this hotel with my parents and sisters and we stayed here for a couple of nights and it was amazing.
The staffs who work at the hotel were also fabulous and very friendly.
This place is an awesome place to be and just kick back and relax and enjoy the scenarios.
I couldn’t believe that a luxurious place existed in the middle of nowhere and I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking to just relax.

The rooms were all slightly different and the decor and thought that had gone into designing the rooms was exquisite. The colours and design were soft and relaxing and every little extra had been thought of, including bath towels that wrapped around with lots to spare.

The staff had been well versed in dealing with foreigners and were smiling and willing to please at every opportunity, they were smart and all spoke impeccable English.
The location could easily be described as a little piece of paradise moulded into the lush hills and jungle on the ouskirts to Kurenegala. The long drive off the main road took about 15 minutes in which time you left the real world and entered into an almost fantasy world that you only see or read about in books, with streams, tropical plants huge boulders and an overwhelming feeling of peace and tranquility.

The greeting and welcome on arrival was another total experience and Karen and Pubudo opened their hearts as well as their hotel to ensure that the guests were treated like royalty.

I think the crowing glory on top of this was the food which was undeniably the finest cuisine that I have ever experienced , and I have travelled extensively. To be in the middle of this unique jungle venue and to indulge in such a feast was beyond my expectations. I cannot find words enough to describe the eating experience; ‘Out of this world’ would not do it justice.

All of the soups were prepared on the premises. Blending of mushrooms and
gentle herbs served in a glass banana boat dish, unusual but most effective,
(Don’t expect the normal here, however you will always get the highest quality)
served with freshly baked rolls started the meal off on a high and it just got better and better.

What came next can only be described as a touch of genius and pure delight. I have
tasted Foie Gras many times but this was truly exquisite, Foie Gras with Peaches and
Tuna stuffed Scallops wrapped in Parma ham. I have never tasted finer and doubt I ever
will. Then between courses we had Lemon Granita which was so refreshing and if you like sorbet then you will love this alternative, it certainly cleared the palate and then I was
ready for the main course.
I chose the steak which was so tender that I could have cut it with a butter knife. This was served with over sized French Fries and fresh vegetables. Everything was presented in such an artistic fashion, that I could have been dining in a top French restaurant in Paris.

Then came the dessert, equally artistic and I spent several minutes enjoying the
presentation before delighting in its splendour. Baked New York Cheesecake with Mixed Berry Compote.

Each course had been expertly prepared and presented by the finest Sri Lankan chef in Sri Lanka, his vast professional international experience coming to the fore, where he would have put some of the top French chefs in the shade.

I could write another ream of literature extolling the virtues of this idyllic venue but if you do not visit Brook Boutique the you have missed the opportunity of a lifetime.

Sadly I could only stay for a few days, if only..............
