“A lovely clean, friendly run hotel in a perfect location for all amenities”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 29, 2011

We stayed for 2 nights in September en route to a walking holiday in the Cheviots. We chose to stay there because of the excellent location. Minutes from Newcastle city centre and minutes from the lovely scenic east coast.
The room was lovely and clean and comfortable. The meals were excellent and the staff were so friendly. The owner, Stan, was like a breath of fresh air, always bubbly and pleasantly polite.
We were made to feel right at home as soon as we walked into the clean, tastefully decorated bar. Also with the unseasonably warm weather it was pleasant to sit out in both extensive gardens to the front and rear which are kept in immaculate condition. We'll definitely be back as it set us up for a lovely forward journey to Northumberland.

I stayed at the Dorset Arms Hotel again on Saturday 19th November, I was meeting friends and family. Stan the owner is renovating, and making a fantastic job of it, has to be seen, very plush, oak bedroom doors, beautiful bathroom tiles and a very hearty fried breakfast.
I stayed for Sunday lunch and decided to have Christmas lunch at the Dorset also, so booked it, very reasonable and the food is superb.

"The reason we did stay in this HOTEL is because we did the ADRIAN WALL from BOWNESS and finish in WALLSEND, we did stay in severals HOTELS and B&B (all excelent), and i have to mention that "the dorset arms hotel" was the most expensive and the worse, also the only one asked for a DEPOSIT 38 pounds.

we did stay in "the dorset arms hotel" the night of the 9th August,
the reservation was mad for 5 people ,

* the 3 rooms wasn´t clean proparly, dust on top on the TV, dust on the tables, toilets shower not clean, floor sticky
* the 3 bathrooms have spiderweb on the roof and the corners
* the room n4, need to change the sheets in both beds, because were hair on them
* the wall on the WC near the toilet on room n4, have spots of something that looks like that someone did "number2" and clean the hands on the wall
* next day at the breakfast, wanst any table with fork and knives, we have to ask several times to the waiter
* we did order 3 english breakfast, and i belive that wasnt any chef so the waiter cooked as well, and took more than 30 minutes (isnt the waiter fault).
* the floor on the restaurant was also sticky.

As a result of this recent inspection we are conducting a major renovation to the premises, working in conjunction with Quality in Tourism, leading towards the Hotel gaining its fourth star. We have also applied for the breakfast award through the National Tourist Board.
A report of this recent inspection can be found on our website.
We would be honoured to get another chance to welcome our Spanish guests back at our Hotel, and that your previous experience will not hinder you from visiting us again.

We stayed there last week at the start of our walking holiday, it was grim. As previous reviewer mentioned they encourage you to pay as soon as you arrive and you realise why. It is very overpriced! Our room was over the bar area and it was very noisy.

How could anyone one go wrong in preparing fish and chips but they did. When we went down to breakfast the following morning it was a matter of fending for yourself in someone else's kitchen. Although they offer cooked breakfast when we asked for this we were told it would take 10 minutes to fire up the cookers and this was just for poached eggs! I would never recommend this place, although I would say the bed linen was clean!

This's our first time to visit Newcastle. The hotel owner Mr.Stan is very nice guy. He take so good care of us since the first min.we met. The room is cosy and clean. Hotel's decorate in unique style. I really love the window view from my room. Stan brought us to see around Wallsend and being our nice host and guide along the stay.

One morning before we left the hotel to London, Stan really concern of us, he make full English Breakfast for our group before we had a long journey to Expensive city :). We're really appreciated.

For someone who's new as me, please don't worry to travel by Metro: stop at Wallsend station and few mins walk straight via Station Road.
By bus number 306, 308, 309, 310 and stop at Coast Road..Station Road.
and take few mins walk.
In future, I'd like to return to NCL and stay at Dorset Arms Hotel again.

Room Tip: room no. 3 has great window view :) pls mentioned to Stan when you booking.
