I stayed here on a Sunday night on Business. The rate was only £55 Room only, this was because the hotel was virtually empty. The first room I was offered was small. Just enough room for a double bed, desk space and open wardrobe. Bathroom didn't even have a full size bath. But there was a problem. The heating wouldn't turn off, and I was too hot. Open the window and the noise from the busy road came right in. So I went down to reception to enquire if I could move rooms. There couldn't have been more than 20 people staying in the hotel that night, which was a 128 room hotel, and they had "no double non-smoking" rooms available. How was this possible? Because the rooms hadn't been cleaned I was told. Fortunately for me they upgraded me to club.
Club rooms are much bigger, double the size of a standard room. 6ft bed, chairs, full size bath. Toiletries adequate, tea, coffee available. But still the noise of the traffic coming into my room. I don't know if I am being over critical, as no other reviewer has mentioned it, but the noise kept me awake for quite a while.
Gym facilities are good, although part of the air-con was out of order when I used it, so I got v.v. hot, but free water available. Breakfast was cooked to order (I think this was because so few people were staying there). Hot and filling, plenty of continental breakfast also available. Check out was easy, even though they had lost my agreed rate, they charged me the correct amount which had been agreed, once they had seen a copy of the e-mail.
All in all a mixed review. I did notice that there is a village hotel 5 mins down the road, in cobalt park I may stay there next time.
