“Charming Village”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2013

Located in Gorgora (south of Gondar on the north shore of Lake Tana), Tim & Kim Village is a charming and peaceful place to spend a few days, specially if you need a rest.
The service and food are really good.
The dining room without walls is a wonderful spot to be lazy.
There are several activities available like walking, kayaking or visiting the old palace of Emperor Susenyos built by the portuguese on the 17th century.
A kayak ride on the lake is a must: we can see lots of birds and visit some of the small islands; there are several churches, but can only be visited by man (women are not allowed inside) - don't forget a sunblock if you go to the lake.

Gorgora is beautiful in itself, but Tim&Kim have worked absolute magic in their village. It lies on the shore of Lake Tana. The lodges are adorable huts with built in toilets (not squats!) and thatched roofs. Take a canoe trip around the lake with Tim- only males can go on the islands where the monasteries are, but everyone can enjoy the views and the workout. Kim makes some incredible soups- and if you enjoy stimulating conversations, stick around the dining area and have a beer with the hosts. They are incredible folks! If you love nature and you are in the Amhara region, you have to come here.

Room Tip: Either a tent or a hut- I say go with the hut! it's a little pricier but you have lake views, a...
