“A Wonderful Surprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

This hotel is just beautiful, located right on the port. It was lovely to watch the fishing boats coming and going right from the window of our room. The room was very clean and well furnished although quite small for 2 people with a suitcase each. It had a loft area which may suit a family with a young child but too difficult to navigate the steep steps with a suitcase. The steps outside our room went right into the water below. No swimming pool but a large one in the sea at the foot of the stairs. The father and son who greeted us were most friendly and helpful. They were very attentive. The breakfast was served very nicely on the deck...it was delicious and so well presented. This hotel is really lovely but I might suggest slightly overpriced compared to other hotels we stayed in. However, they certainly provide good service and the location is lovely. Many thanks....still wearing the slippers provided. A nice touch!

We were so impressed with Pirgos Mavromichali that we are taking our family from South Africa, Canada and Denmark there summer 2013. Great location, right on the water. From our room we could walk down a flight of stairs right into the crystal clear water (no beach but sand in the water). The Hotel has its own deck chairs for sun lovers like us. Breakfast was great! From eggs and bacon, yogurt and fresh fruit, breads, cold meat, jam, cheese, coffee and fresh juice! The rooms are pure luxury, the best beds you will ever sleep on (Coco Mat), Korres body products, clean towels everyday, beach towels, fluffy white gowns and slippers and all the standard things TV, AC and bar fridge. The staff are so friendly and they bend over backwards for their guests. They speak Greek , german and english. In Limeni you will find a coctail bar and restaurants with pasta, fresh fish and much more. If you want more action you will find coctail bars and restaurants in Areopoli, about a 10 min taxi ride away. We took the bus back to Athens from Areopoli about 5 hours and about 29 euro. I left Limeni with a heavy heart, but cannot wait to to go back next year. I loved this hotel.....Totally awesome!!

Pro's : Great location, wonderful view to the sea, lovely breakfast.

Con's : Small room with limited privacy, a bit over-priced.

Ideal to visit around May/ June; the sea is just below the hotel, so you have the chance for your first swim of the season...

Pirgos Mavromichali is a restored 18th-century tower overlooking the picturesque bay of Limeni.
The stone-built accommodation has a sun terrace on the grounds and is built right on top of the bay so swimming in the sea is accessible within a few a steps.
Note that this not an exclusible beach as the area is also known by locals that populate the area in the afternoon and evening hours.

We had booked a Standard Double Room but we were pleasantly suprised to be staying at a Junior Suite (Split Level) equipped with a flat-screen TV, mini fridge, a/c, bathrobes and Korres cosmetics overlooking the sea.

The breakfast is home-made and served by the staff on the terrace overlooking the bay (not buffet).
Only public parking in the narrow streets of the village is available.

There are 2-3 restaurants in the village with fresh fish and diverse menus, but they quite highly priced (if you are on a budget), so prefer to eat in the Aeropoli or another close-by village.

As Limeni is a quiet village, this a destination for vacationers seeking calm and relax or romance.

MUST SEE - the caves of Dirou are approx. 20min. from Limeni so make a plan to visit them as they are one of a kind. There is also swimming in this area.

Wonderful boutique hotel with a zen-factor and romantique atmosphere that is higher than any spa-resort could bring. Great personalized hospitality by warm hosts (father and son) eager to share their proud and knowledge on the Mani region and culture, very professional treatment, superb tower renovation, beautiful and natural materials (fantastic organic beds), abundant local Mani-breakfast. At the seafront - just a few stairsteps away from the water, lovely view over the bay with incredible sunsets . Great central location to visit from there the Mani area including the Pyrgos Dirou caves or just relax on the sunbeds ... A gem!

Room Tip: The cave rooms are super romantic but in the hottest period they are less fresh as the airco system...

Stayed for 2 days to this amazing renovated and rebuilt place. The owner (Sakis)is a true representative of Greek hospitality, warm smile, always at your side to assist you, well educated about anything involving the area and the Messinia prefecture. Rooms are small but cosy and you will love them, sleeping on coco-mat beds and mattresses is like sleeping in heaven clouds!
Preparing breakfast at the the time of your desire is a must! not any more flat buffets.Travihtes, a local pancake is a must! All of its products are 100% pure Greek and surely you can't find any better in the area.
Try the best fish in the restaurant Takis at 50m from Pirgos Mavromichali, probably the best well served and perfect grilled fish in my life! also in Areopoli, go to Pierro's taverna and try wild bore with prunes sauce!
Definitely will visit that place again and will try spearfishing to the coast in front of the mansion !
visiting also Vathia, Gerolimenas and Diros cave is 100% must!
