Based on the TripAdvisor reviews we popped in for lunch today. It is a lovely 16th century pub with lots of character, and the staff are very nice.
I am always a bit concerned when I see a large menu in a pub, the warning sign of FOOD SERVICES. Then to top it all the only special of the day was potato and leek soup. So we thought we would play it safe and have burgers, which our waiter raved about. No nice crumbly homemade beef burgers for us as they were made by some loving machine. This was a shame really as the presentation and salad was excellent and the overall plate of food wasn't bad. When it came to desert the menu said homemade dessert, and when I questioned the waitress she said that this was not the case. The sticky toffee pudding was a bit of a disaster stodgy, not very tasty and badly microwaved.
With a simple one page menu and a great specials board this pub would be great, but just let down by taking a short cut on the food which is a real pity.
