Lovely big airy en-suit bedrooms, cosy wood burner in the sitting room, excellent breakfast.
Lynn makes one feel at home straight away.
So much to do and see in the area. Good pub food 5 minutes walk up the road.
A real welcome made to your dog with excellent goodie bag.

After walking Hadrian's Wall, it was with great relief that we arrived at Wallsend Guest House to enjoy the sort of luxury and attention to detail that you so rarely get these days. Lyn couldn't have been more welcoming and accommodating and it made the long walk all worthwhile. Everything in the bedroom and bathroom looked brand new and all needs had been carefully thought of. Top tip, make sure you buy some eggs from Lyn to take home.

Myself and my husband got married on New Year’s Eve in St Michael’s Church, Bowness on Solway and when we booked the wedding six months ago we found the perfect place for the bridal party and family to stay the night before the wedding. Wallsend Guest House is actually the old rectory of the church so we couldn’t have asked for a better location. On the planning up to the wedding we visited Lyn and Andy at the guest house and had delicious afternoon tea, the days up and coming to the wedding we stored the wedding dress so we didn’t have to worry about transporting it the night before. On the evening before the wedding Lyn and Andy had made an absolutely fantastic spread for us, homemade soup, beautiful sandwiches, quiche, cakes everything was homemade and delicious, I have to give a special shout out the cheese straws. Nothing was too much trouble.

The next day we were up early for a lovely home cooked brekkie before the madness began, Lyn never stopped running around after us all helping get the makeup ladies, the photographer and hair dressers cups or tea and keeping my champagne glass nicely topped up. Andy went completely over and beyond,up to the church to sweep the path to make sure my dress would stay nice and white!!! I am totally lost for word trying to explain how welcoming and amazing Wallsend Guest House is.

Although we only live a few miles away we will be back to visit very soon. Lyn and Andy you excelled yourself – we hope to see you very soon. John and Becky

Myself and family recently had the pleasure of staying with Lynn and Alan at their beautful home . My daughter was getting married in the local church and myself(mother of the bride) and the bridal party (9 of us) were treated to the most friendly welcoming experience from arrival to departure. From the warm welcome at the front door and entering the beautiful house with it's log burning fire we were treated with so much care and nothing was too much trouble. The bedrooms. were spotless, very comfortable and very well furnished. The food was also excellent . Lynn and Alan were onhand and nothing was too much trouble from attending to individual likes and dislikes with food( of which there was an abundance), to providing a safety pin, to making an emergency corsage and Alan even went to the church and swept the path. The presence of the dogs and cats gave the house an even greater feeling of home. Lynn and Alan certainly know how to make their guests feel at home and I can honestly say they were an important part of making my daughter's wedding such a fabulous day. I would recommend anyone to stay with Lynn and Alan whether it is a one night stopover or a base to explore the beautiful area.

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent

At the end of 8 months trudging through rain, wind and mud on the Hadrians Wall Path, we arrived with the fantastic Doris Hancock (96) to the most warm, friendly welcome ever imaginable from Lyn, her extended family and friends and dogs, topped with Cliff Richard's "Congratulations" playing through the open doorway! A yummy celebratory afternoon tea and total luxury in the rooms. Wallsend Guest House is SIMPLY THE BEST!

My girlfriend and I decided to walk Hadrian's Wall and as such we organized for B&B's along the route. We decided that we would drive up to Bowness, then take the train the next day to Newcastle and start our walk from there.

Well We arrived late Sunday PM, and were greeted by a a very energetic and welcoming hostess Lyn as well as several friendly dogs and cats. We had a great room overlooking her garden in the rear. She enquired as to our trip up from Bedfordshire and if we would like some tea or a little snack.

She arranged for a cab to take us to the train station in Carlisle in the morning as well as having a place for us to leave our car at the B&B while we were away.

Room was spacious and very comfortable. Bathroom was filled with nice soaps and other amenities . Breafast the next morning was awesome, filling and just what one needed to start the day (her otameal was excellent). Before we left, she asked if we would like the same room again and if everything was to our liking - which no doubt it was.

Fast forward 5 days. On our last day of hiking (Carlisle to Bowness), it was great to know that we would have a a great place to end our trip. Along the way we had met many other hikers including a few who would be staying at the same Guest house as well.

Lyn's thoughfulness for her guests also extended to the fact that she emailed guests to let them know that the local pub would not be serving supper on Saturday evening but that she had arranged transportation to and from the the next town for just 5£ for any guest who would like to join.

We arrived back at the guest house at about 5pm and we were greeted with a warm smile and congratulations for doing "The Wall". A few others arrived soon afterwards and she offered tea, scones and jam for all. That was such a great touch.

Again as with the first night the room was comfortable, warm and just a great way to unwind. The next morning we again enjoyed a wonderful breakfast and thanked her for all her kindness and hoped that we would one day soon be able to again enjoy her hospitality.

This is a lovely B&B in which to stay at the start of walking Hadrian's Wall. We received a very warm welcome from Lyn who sat us down to a lovely cup of tea, homemade scones, clotted cream and jam. Both our rooms were spotless, light and airy. Beds were warm and comfortable and Lyn's close business relationship with the local pub ensured us a table and friendly service. Breakfast set us up for the walk ahead - fruit, cereal, full-English if you are that hungry. Lyn runs a thoroughly professional establishment in which it was a real pleasure to stay.
