“Great base to experience rural and coastal Ireland”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2011

We had an excellent week at East Clare in late July. A car is essential for exploring far and wide, with traffic very light by UK standards - just as well as the minor roads are rather narrow. The Golf Village has over 50 units, most in blocks of 4. The golf course is adjacent but not obvious from the units. We had a 2 bed, 2up 2 down apartment - very spacious with all amenities provide for self-catering. We ate out most days and having taken advantage of the free shuttle bus to Peppers at Feakle on our first night, it turned into our main eatery! The live music on Sunday and Wednesday evenings is well worth experiencing, but it is a friendly place with good food. The reception staff at East Clare are very helpful with tips on places to visit etc. and there are several organised excusions available for those not inclined to drive. We explored in all directions - Limerick, Loch Derg circuit, Portumna Castle, Galway, Portrush etc. - plenty to experience. As a base for exploring western Ireland, this worked extremely well for us. The most convenient airport from the UK would be Shannon, but two of us flew to Dublin and hired a car from there - an easy drive on quiet motorways, but beware the odd toll!

Room Tip: Based on our experience, the site is relaxed and quiet so no need to worry on precise location.

My husband and I stayed here with our two sons aged 2 & 3. The staff were very helpful and friendly. It is an ideal base for travelling around the area. We ate in a pub called Teach Ui Bhriain, in the near by Tuamgraney. It was very child friendly. We visited Bunratty and Cragginowen, which I would highly recommend for active toddlers!! There is a free bus to Peppers Bar in Feakle on Sunday and Wednesday nights. Peppers do wonderful food and there was excellent live Irish music also.

The kids loved the house, very spacious. I would highly recommend the properties, they are spotlessly clean and very homely.

I have to be honest and say i would never have taught to stay anywhere but a hotel but after my experience in East Clare Holiday homes I have definately changed my mind. From the minute we arrived we felt totally relaxed. The girl at reception was so friendly and polite once we had checked in she walked us to our chalet. Downstairs was a large sitting room/kitchen that was beautiful furnished and double doors leading out to the terrace with a table and 4 chairs. (Also a downstairrs toilet with Shower). Upstairs along a small corridor was a twin and double room and a bathroom. We couldnt believe how big and clean the place was. We decided to stay in for the night and cook dinner (it really felt like we were at home) we had everything to hand in the kitchen right down to a potatoe peeler. We couldnt recommend this place enough so much so that when we got home we booked to go back in july with a few of our friends. I dont think i have ever slept so well the beds were so comfy and it was in such a quiet area. These are the perfect getaway for some peace and quiet. Its only a short drive from Tuamgreany for any essentials you may need. These holiday homes were definately up to the standard of any hotel and are great value too. Dont think twice about booking.

Room Tip: Booking.com has great value 4 these holiday homes
