“Hall Hills; great for family get-togethers”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2013

Twelve of us descended on the unspoilt countryside of the Dalston area in Cumbria for a family reunion, just South of Carlisle, for a Lake District visit. The accommodation was fantastic, the location great and the views just beautiful. Jude, the proprieter, and her husband got it just right with a perfect balance of helpful friendliness and privacy.

Each of the four different cottages / houses we had booked were different but maintained the highest standards of decor, comfort and paraphernalia. There were times I wasn't sure which shower to use next! The communal area was perfect for evening entertainment, surround sound and ipod capability, and whilst we didn't make use of the bar on this trip, we will do when we return.

Ullswater was a stunning 30 minute drive and Windermere a further 30 minutes, but worth the distance (stay away from the M6 and use the winding country lanes instead, you won't be disappointed).

The weekend was over much too soon, and we finished off with a stroll down by the river next to Hall Hills, amongst the sheep and lambs. A brilliant location for kids, parents, grandparents (we covered all three generations) and every one of the party commented to me, the organiser, on the fabulous stay.

In addition, a great price considering the 5 star rating!

Fantastically appointed, converted barn with lots of nice touches to really enhance your stay. We stayed as a party of 4 and were made extremely welcome by Tim and Jude, both on arrival and later in the bar! Fixtures and fittings are great, the heating is controlled by yourself 24/7 and I have never stayed in cleaner accomodation anywhere in the world. I will be booking my parents in and returning myself. Thanks for a lovely time. Simon

Me and my partner spent 3 nights in The Folly at Hall Hills. It was everything we expected and more! The Folly had everything we needed so we could cook dinner, watch movies from our laptops, an amazing sound system and lovely powerful shower. We even recieved some goodies upon arrival and had a nice welcome and shown around. You are literally in the middle of nowhere but the views are so lovely you never want to leave! We would definately recommend to a friend and will be returning at some point to enjoy it some more :-)

We spent week in the beautiful designed and equipped Folly. These are exceptional rental properties in rural Cumbria but just a short drive to all main attractions. Jude has furnished the properties to an extremely high standard and has given great thought to the comfort and needs of visitors. To sit out and enjoy a drink and take in the spectacular views is sheer bliss. Highly recommended.

Hall Hills is very conveniently located for exploring both the north Lake District and attractions beyond. A really convenient drive to Carlisle and about 40 minutes from Bridoswald Fort, Hadrian's Wall. We were also lucky to be in for the weekend of the Dalston show (the nearest small village) and that was great fun. We stayed in Tethera cottage, very nice, fully 5 star equipped. My smallest niggle is that the back patios are not very private for some of the properties, from Tethera you are fully exposed to the patios on both sides and the laundry room entrance. However, I think this i an aspect of the option to have large groups rent all the cottages which seems popular. If you are a big group, this would be a positive as you can all mix together otu the back. Also, the bed in the main bedroom, the mattress was a bit hard and seemed to be the only slightly under-quality aspect of the whole cottage but I like a soft mattress so that may just be my personal preference.
