“Romantic little hotel with homely touches”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2008

I booked this hotel as a surprise for my parents' 30th wedding anniversary, and although I did not stay there myself I wanted to write a review as my parents had a lovely time.

From a booking point of view, I did everything from overseas and the hotel was fast and helpful in response, offering a lot of additonal services (like champagne and flowers in the room, restaurant reservations for special places nearby).

The hotel itself was nicely decorated, and Mum said although there were knick-knacks everywhere, the whole place was spotless and dust-free.

If you're looking for a bit of old-world romance, something a bit different to the run-of-the-mill modern hotel, this is the place to go.

We stayed in The Gardener's Cottage, a self catering hideaway (although breakfast was included) situated in the gardens at the back of the house. Close to the Brecon Beacons and Black Mountains, it was a perfect place for short holiday with our 8 month year old.

This is a beauticul and immaculately kept period property in a great location. The room was clean, comfortable and furnished with antiques. It offers some hotel amenities such as bath robes, towels, shampoo, but at a bed and breakfast price. It was very clean and a lovely place.

What a fantastic find and excellent Value for money!

How lucky we were to come across this little gem on our way home after staying elsewhere in the area. We called in for a brochure and were so taken by it we knew we had to come back and stay to get the full experience! So that's exactly what we did. We booked by email and stayed earlier this month.

On arrival it was just as beautiful as we remembered, we were met by the owner and given a tour of the downstairs - the honesty bar, the guest lounge and the dining/breakfast room. It was all so cosy and homely with the roaring log fire. Infact it was home from home even down to the resident labs wagging their greetings. We stayed in the"West Wing" This really is the most beautiful bedroom - Talk about big it was huge! with fantastic views over the fields and mountains. It was so romantic with the lamps on next to the bed, ready for our arrival. The whole house is furnished with antiques and pretty ornaments even the bathroom! The bedroom was well equipped with a TV, DVD Player and Tea & Coffee making and the bed was so comfortable. Everything was heavenly - we even had fluffy bath robes as well as towels in the bathroom which we thought quite unusual for a bed and breakfast. The next morning just as we thought it couldn't get any better we went down for breakfast . We bagged the best table and sat looking out over the garden.. We started with the breakfast buffet.. Cereal, Fruit & Yogurt followed by the full cooked Welsh Breakfast - it was delicious and plenty of it, even the toast was hot and thats a rare thing in Hotels!

The attention to detail at Glangrwyney Court is exceptional and is obviously a labour of love on the part of the owners and their family. We are looking forward to our next visit.

I agree that this place is beuatifully equipped abnd furnished and in a great location. However, low quality tolietries ( no shampoo provided), worn and frayed bath towels and a breakfast which had clearly been kept warm for a long time, along with threats to charge credit card for missing shower gel and toilet rolls (!) left us a little disappointed. We had the impression tha ey wanted their cake and to eat it. Its a private house not a hotel so don't expect hotel service but we will charge £5 to supply cuttlery or £5 corkage on own wine.
