“Brilliant food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

The food here is always high standard and the service to.
It's what you would expect from a country pub.
They are very inviting as a stranger in their pub.
Always go their after a day out .
The beer garden is nice too.
It's a bit hard to get out of the car park as it on a bend.
You have to be careful that you don't miss it as you drive past.

“Excellent food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2013

Went for Sunday tea, best cooked steak i have had in this country for ages. (meat from Butchers in Barnton). My partner had an equally enjoyable meal, as we always do when we frequent the Tunnel Top. Friendly service and good selection of real ales for my beloved. Well worth a trip.

“Very good pub grub”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2013

Went for Sunday lunch. The décor is slightly dated, but the food is excellent and good value. Have a good selection of guest ales. One of best children's play areas I have seen in years...O yes the kids liked it to. A real family pub that makes you WELCOME with friendly staff

“GREAT PUB FOOD & SERVICE WITH A SMILE”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2013

This is my second review for the Tunnel Top, having visited again a few weeks ago I felt that my first review was too critical. We arrived as a group of six walkers without pre booking. The food was home cooked, plentiful and good. As one of our group commented 'Good Pub Grub'.All of the dishes were enjoyed followed by homemade deserts. The wine selection was adequate and cask ales good.. Being sat in the larger room at the back gave us all more room and a better dining experience. The staff were very friendly and the food was served promptly WE WILL DEFINATELY BE RETURNING ON OUR NEXT WALK.

“Sunday Roast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013

Myself my partner and her parents decided to go for a Sunday Roast yesterday. We have been before, and last time the food was excellent as was the service.
We arrived yesterday at exactly 1500hrs and the car parks ( front and back were jam packed)
Alarms bells started ringing, as we had not booked!!
Anyway, we went in and were greeted by the owner Kevin. We explained that we had come for a sunday roast, but had not booked. No bother to Kevin, he managed to find us a table and quickly set it up for us all!
We enjoyed a deliciously hot appetising roast dinner comprising of 3 different meats - generous hand carved portions, plus ALL the trimmings including several different vegetables.
We eat out a lot, at both pubs and also hotels.. Believe me, you will not find a better Sunday dinner at any other venue in and around Runcorn, and that includes the Evenwood near Sandymoor!
Also for you real ale drinkers, they have a selection of guest ales on which again I particularly enjoy.
My partner and her Mum sampled the sweets, ( myself and my partners dad were too full) they both said that they were delicious !
If you want quality, quantity and value for money then go eat here!
