My husband and I have become regular customers this year to the Buck Inn after having dropped in one Sunday afternoon for a drink. The reception we received, from the owner Helen, was so warm and welcoming that we decided to stay for lunch and oh my what a lunch it was! A fresh Carvery with 6 differing roast meats including my favourite Venison. I was informed by the chef that the meat was all locally sourced as was the vegetables and all completely cooked from fresh. It was absolutely delicious. Truly The best Carvery I have ever had! We had relaxed that afternoon so much we decided to stay . We enjoyed excellent service all afternoon for the bar staff and entertaining stories about the local area from Helen's husband Wolfgang.
The atmosphere was truly wonderful, so wonderful that my husband booked to stay that evening as a surprise.
The room was very clean, lovely clean, fresh bed linen and towels. The bathroom was immaculate and a great shower which I didn't expect in the countryside. My nights sleep was very comfortable and breakfast the next morning was again fresh, delicious and plentiful. The eggs, after marvellling over their size, I was told where locally sourced duck eggs .Very tasty indeed!
Sadly we had to leave that morning , however since we have returned again and again and always the same, Great food, great service and a truly enjoyable experience each and every time.
We would highly recommend a trip to The Buck Inn.

My husband, daughter (12) and dog Lolly (aged3) spent a lovely afternoon at the Buck Inn. The Sunday Carvery was excellent value for money and was simp,y delicious. There was a choice of meats and a great selection of vegetables, food was piping hot and very tasty. We chatted with the bar staff and the owners Wolfgang and Helen were very friendly and seemed genuinely interested in what we had to say.
after a lovely walk through the gorgeous countryside and surroundings, we again entered the Buck Inn and took advantage of the coffee and cream scone offer. The coffee was "real" coffee and the scones simply beautiful. the coffee was so good we had another cup.
All in all a lovely afternoon made even better was the fact that our dog could be part of it. the owners Wolfgang and Helen and their staff should be congratulated on their fantastic food, service and friendliness. Can't wait to go back.

We stayed at the Buck in during our coast to coast walk. We found it very difficult to get in touch with the owners to arrange a pick up time and had to call several times before the phone was answered. The hotel was dirty and untidy. We were taken in by the back door which was wedged open by the dustpan from a plastic dust pan and brush set. There were dog hairs all over the floor ( the dog was in fact lovely and the friendliest member of the team) The bed was large and comfy but the shower tray was very cracked and the paint above the shower cubicle was mouldy and peeling off. Wolfgang was friendly, his wife was not and was very difficult to engage in conversation at all. The girls behind the bar were friendly and the food was ok. We would definitely not return or recomment this hotel. The review on the internet was obviously for another hotel.

We have just got back from a fantastic weekend at the Buck Inn. Wolfgang and Helen are very friendly and welcoming. The food is gorgeous and the accommodation is really comfortable...best nights sleep we've had in ages. Definitely recommended!

Hosts were very good and were waiting for us to be picked up at clay bank top and returned the following morning on our coast to coast walk.
Clothing and boots were dried overnight, breakfast was good and bed comfortable
Clearly they are moving the B&B forward

A very great stop after a very wet day on the moors on our coast to coast trek. Helen was waiting for us as we came off the moors and drove us to the inn. She took our sodden boots from us to dry out over night. They were dry by morning. We had our best evening meal here and enjoyed a relaxing evening at the pub reading newspapers and magazines. Helen took us back to the trail in the morning after a good night's sleep in a spacious room. Both Helen and Wolfgang were great hosts.
