A bit hard to find, the food at Bawai's is worth the effort. When my friend and I arrived at Bawai's it was early evening. We did not have reservations (we did not know we needed reservations), nevertheless, they still managed to accommodate us as we were only two in our party. Since we both did not want a heavy meal, we only opted to order a salad, an appetizer, and soup.
I loved the salad made from heart of coconut (ubod). It was the first time I tried blanched ubod as salad as it is usually made into lumpia. It was very, very good. The flavors were perfectly balanced and the taste brought me back to my trip to Saigon a few years ago. The fresh spring rolls that we had was also good. The shrimp still fresh. Again, the flavors were balanced perfectly. For our last course, we had beef pho. It was fantastic!
The place was kinda small so it made for intimate dining. The decor felt homey, but not kitschy. One of the large windows look out to a field where cows laze around while the other look out to a pretty house.
The service staff are friendly and attentive, but not obstrusive. The prices are very reasonable. Not like jolibee affordable, but more like max's affordable.I see myself returning to this place again and again.
My only complaint about them is that they are only open on fridays, saturdays and sundays.
