“Very basic & away from services”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2013

The hotel is located in the vicinity of Arlanda airport but a costly taxi ride away. The nearest services are a good 20 min walk away. The hotel has a restaurant that serves a tasty limited range dinner menu. The rooms have not been updated for quite some time but my overall experience was well compensated by the kind service at the reception. For the price of over 100 Euros a night I just might think again before re-booking.

The rooms were old, the bathrooms older. They are remodeling soon. That will help. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to help us. The food is expensive, even for Stockholm.

I read the last couple of reviews giving the hotel a poor rating, and am disappointed. My husband, teenage daughter and I stayed there for 2 nights in Aug '13, and had a very good stay. To start with, we called in advance before leaving at 6 AM from Helsinki for Arlanda Airport, and just wanted to ask about the shuttle ride and whether we could leave our bags in the concierge for the day. Not only did they arrange for the shuttle on the spot, but offered to let us have our room at 9:30 am instead of 3 PM, so we could freshen up. AND wonder of wonders, offered us free breakfast for the day, so we had 3 breakfasts for 3 people while paying for 2! I agree that rooms are not extraordinary, but they are not terrible either. Water was at great pressure, beds were comfortable and clean, breakfast served in a bright room on the upper level. The spread was decent, breads very fresh, good choice of beverages, egg preparations, fruits and yogurts. The location is about an hour's distance from the Stockholm Central Station, about a 10 minute drive from Arlanda. Marsta is the last station on the line, so it was always convenient to get on, as there would be a train standing at the station to leave, or get off at the last station. It was no trouble getting them to come pick us up at the train station each night either. We chose once to not call for the ride, and took a taxi instead, and had to pay USD 20. If you do not have a cell phone that works in Sweden, (ours is from the US), you can ask someone at the 7-11 right outside the station to call them. The staff was always cheerful and friendly, and no, we did not tip them to get this friendliness. For those who think this is terrible value for the money, can try finding cheaper accommodation closer to Stockholm. Overall, I am very happy with my stay, and my first visit to Sweden was made that much better by these folks.

Room Tip: We were on the second floor (ground + 2), and our room was comfortable.

We stayed in the hotel for 1 night before our morning flight.
They provide complimentary shuttle from the Arlanda airport but you have to call them to get picked up, they had only a small 7seater van so we had to wait for almost an hour since the driver was busy. It's about 10 minutes drive from the airport, for the return transfer you need to book the time in advance.
The hotel is very old, it definitely needs refurbishment, there is kind of depressing atmosphere all over the place which made us feel uncomfortable. The room was quite big and clean, we had a good night sleep at the end.
The breakfast wasn't good, the food didn't look fresh at all, we had just a bit of bread and couldn't wait to leave.

Hotels in Sweden are expensive. But £155 (online purchase) for one night in such a poor hotel is extraordinary. My room was on the ground floor. The windows opened (one of them opened wide and anyone could step into the room) onto the front of the hotel where people gathered to smoke and talk at all hours of the night. You either closed the window and boiled of heat with no air or had no sleep. The room itself was a tiny room with a single bed. The shower was only wide enough to stand alongside the wall with half your body under the shower - turning round meant getting out and stepping back in. The basin was half size and the glass shelf was positioned so you could not reach over it to brush your teeth.

The whole place was so seedy I chose not to eat there - and there was nowhere else nearby to eat or drink that I could find without having a car.

Room Tip: Avoid the place and if you have to stay there avoid a ground floor room

The hotel is in the middle of nowhere, but it's a very pleasant 20-30 minute walk into the centre of Marsta where there are several shops, plus the train station to Stockholm, etc.

The hotel itself is average, it needs quite a lot of work done and there are no signs of anything being done. The breakfast is also average without a huge choice, but the restaurant food is good and reasonably priced in comparison to the rest of Sweden.

I personally would not stay again, but the free transfer from the airport is good.

We only stayed one night because the Connect and Ibis hotels were fully booked so it was our first time in the Park Inn by Radisson.

Due to the fact that this hotel is old there is absolutely no isolation. We have been lucky enough to have our room beside a family with a crying baby during the whole night. So our night was short.

It is not the worst hotel we have ever stayed but we don't recommend it despite a friendly staff.
