Tillett's Village Lodge is worth going. It's located in Crooked Tree, a real paradies for bird lovers. The best thing about this place is that you become a part of the family while you are there. In contrast to Belize City, Crooked Tree is a safe place where you are even invited to barbecues of neighbors or to a drink (rumor with fresh coconut water) on the street at night.
You can do horse riding, guided nature tours, book tours to Lamanai, Altun Ha or the the baboon sanctuary. We saw hawler monkeys very close, they even ate banana leaves out of our hands.
The Belizian Food from Julie's kitchen is very tasty and the portions are big. She tries to fulfil all special wishes too.
Catch the bus to Crooked Tree starts from Belize and drops you right in front of the door of the Lodge. It's safe and costs B$ 3.
