“Relax in a great place !”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2013

One week in jan 2013. This place was really wonderfu. Staying at Villa Okep with amazing view over the forest, rise akers and the sea. Okep was a big house with good space. The restaurants is eighter down to the beach or close to the swimmingpool, and the food was really good. Service was very good, some language problems (English) with some of the staff. Thanks to Kasningrum Dimayanti and Lalu Hamdhani and also rest of the staff. I hope I would see this place again :)

We spent a week here, having read the rave reviews on tripadvisor. Yes the beach and the resort are excellent. However we found it very isolated - the idea of dining on our own at the pool or in our room was not an attractive option. On our first evening dinner was served at the beach cafe where 3 other couples also dined - it was rather quiet and subdued but we presumed this was because it was a Tuesday - alas this was the ONLY evening where we even saw another couple dining. Whilst breakfast was splendid - dinner (with no choice) was a rushed affair and sadly lacked atmosphere. We must compliment the chef on his creme brulee (it was excellent). Unlike other villa resorts there was no afternoon tea or happy hour so no chance to meet other guests. All the staff were efficient and friendly and keen to chat - they are a great asset to the resort.
If you want total privacy and isolation this is the place for you - but it was just too quiet and lacking in holiday atmosphere for us. We also felt cost of hotel transport was inflated.

Room Tip: Villa Kruing is VERY small and does not have much of a view. The bathrooms in all villas are not v...

My parents and I spent 2 days here - they were lovely to have upgraded us to the Villa Atas (because the trip was special for personal reasons) which by far has to be the best place I have stayed in. It has a stunning private infinity pool overlooking the gorgeous beach and scenery. Everything about our stay was perfect. We absolutely loved every minute of it.

Breakfast was made in the villa itself. They even sent up the dinner because it was a little climb up to the villa on top. Don't think they rent this out often as it is not officially part of the Sempiak Villas - but I am so glad they gave it to us.

The lady who came for the massage was supposed to spend 60mins on each - but finished off in barely 2 hours. On checking out when I mentioned it to them, they charged only for the 2 hours.

After 2 days here, we headed to Senggigi for snorkelling at the Gili islands and a trip to the waterfalls near Mt Rinjani - both of which were great. Check out reviews for Eko - great tour guide would highly recommend him.

Lombok is amazing and this was a near perfect trip...the start to which was made magnificent by our stay at Sempiak!

Loved this place. The beach is off the scale. Wild and long. Sempiak villas are a good place to stay although the smallest is a bit tight for space. It doesn't really matter because there's no reason to stay inside.

I wouldn't hesitate to go here again.

While everyone's driving west to Sengiggi and the Gilis, take my advice and go south to Sempiak (only 30 minutes from the new airport). It's a 5* experience while still feeling that you're in Indonesia. Beautiful location, fabulous villas with all "mod cons", great white sand beach, great service, interesting fishing village that's nothing to do with tourism (yet), tasty food. Very tranquil. You've got the beach to yourself or with a few other visitors. No hawkers. The very accommodating staff will arrange any kind of day trip you want. Or you can just relax and take in the view (as we did). I can't imagine going anywhere else on Lombok.

Skip Bali, head straight to Sempiak and fulfill your "Eat, Pray and Love" aspirations here! <3

My friend found this gem of a resort, booked and surprised us on that day of our arrival in Lombok. We could not be more that happy as this place is the perfect place for people like us: aspires for the comfort, glitz and glam of the Ritz or Aman without exactly having deep pockets to match. Let me tell you how amazing this place is by breaking in down:

LOCATION:
Sempiak is nestled perfectly perched on a hill overlooking the magnificent ocean. You have the vista of the beach/ocean and the hills and palms trees around it. It surely made for amazing post card-like photos, the kind that makes your friends’ at home cry of jealousy. I will attach some stunning photo for evidence.

BEACH
Three words: stunning white sand. If I may add more, the lack of tourist/crowd littered on the beach made it even more perfect. No ugly deck chairs lying around either. Perfect! Sempiak is the only resort in this entire beach ‘cove’, apart from a couple of surf shacks in the distance therefore offers a feeling like you own the beach, like a boss! The entire stretch of the beach is perfect for morning walk/jog. My friend and I managed to get onto climbing through the rocks that separates them. Bring your Vibrams, it’s a must!
AMENITIES/FACILITIES
Pool is a feature in itself. Do yourself a favor and take a photo with cocktail in hand. Stunning! The bungalow is equipped with everything you want in your apartment or that Hampton house you wish you own. The lounge area is gorgeous, tastefully decorated and spacious (spacious enough that we threw a huge living room impromptu party), kitchen well-stacked with your basic needs (coffee, tea, sugar), fridge replenish daily with beer, wine, sparkling wine, tonic and soda water. Well stacked bookshelves, great sound system with CD collections appropriate for the venue (think Hotel Costes, Café Del Mar, etc). The bed – super comfy and the bathroom are massive. There are only 3 bungalows on the resort, pick the biggest one that’s closest to the pool if you’re more than 2 people.

FOOD & SERVICE
While the food was good and delicious – it didn’t shake me to the core. The selections of local dishes are great and all at very reasonable prices (not very ‘hotel’ prices like some other places since you’re held captive). The service – now that’s something that makes this place special. The staffs are very attentive and accommodating. We were not disappointed – not even once! They helped us arranged a surprise birthday dinner for our friend at the pool – decorated with flowers, candles, specially request plates to match the flowers, and all sorts of request and none one of them said no. Even baked a cake for my friend!

There are not enough superlatives to match our satisfaction. I don’t want to sound contrive – but it was one of our best holidays ever! The resort did not leave a stone un-turned. Every single piece of the entire resort is very, very well thought of. We can only conclude that the owners are very sophisticated well-travelled people and that they’ve created this wonderful resort for themselves and their friends. We felt very lucky to have the opportunity to spend our holidays there. Definitely 5-star quality on 2-star price! My friends are a tough crowd but they all left longing for more!

Who we are:
A bunch of city-dwellers in late 20’s to mid 30’s, have traveled the world on flash-pack and luxury type of accommodations (we prefer the Ritz but we can’t always afford it!), beach lovers (there’s no beach in the world that we won’t go, same can be said about designer sample sales too).

Room Tip: The bungalow next to the pool is amazing! If you're a group of 2-4, this is your bungalow.

This place has it sorted. Incredible view, excellent food, caring staff and beautiful surroundings. Nestled on the hill, you feel part of the landscape; it’s easy to drift into the afternoon just watching the waves of the ocean.

After travelling in Indonesia for two weeks, I felt like I was finally was able to relax while staying at Sempiak. Morning walks were devoid of hawkers and I had the beach to myself. The sand is the softest I have ever felt! On the beach there are comfy chairs and beanbags for guests to stay on, the café is just a 30 second walk from the beach, which has delicious lunch choices. Apparently people drive from the other side of the island for the cheesecake! I had the Pavlova, which was delicious and huge. I found the food prices very reasonable considering the quality of the ingredients and the excellent flavours. I have celiac disease, so it’s often hard to travel and make sure that the food is safe, but this was no trouble at Sempiak as the owner is also is Gluten Free. The menu is clearly marked with GF for all dishes that are Gluten Free- such a relief to not worry or have to explain!

Great evening ambiance around the pool area, lovely low lighting and music make it a picturesque place to hang out. It feels like your own private poolside villa. The evenings are gorgeous, there is a viewing platform on the hill to watch the sunset- or just around the pool is beautiful.

All in all, it is an amazing spot. Worth skipping Bali altogether and just flying directly here. Next time that’s exactly what I’ll do.

Thanks so much to the excellent hospitality of Clive, Adam, Ros and Murielle, it was a holiday I’ll never forget.
