“Good Sunday lunch ”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 15, 2013

This is the third time I've been here for Sunday lunch and it's consistently good.

The surroundings are fine, just a country pub atmosphere with plenty of space. The waiting staff are friendly enough and the service fast.

If I wanted to be picky, the lady behind the bar could be more friendly but that's not saying she is unfriendly. In this industry, a smile can make all the difference.

“Early dinner”

Not much to say here, excellent welcome, service, food. Portions large and hot, would definitely visit again, the highlander is next to speed camera just outside Ponteland

“Friendly Staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2013

First visit and a nice place. The staff seemed unusually nice and friendly and made a real difference to our evening. It is not too cramped and a real fire made it warm. The food was rather good - though the excellent bangers and mash did not need the token vegetables straight from the freezer at the cash and carry. Would definitely go again if in the area

“Fabulous home cooked food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2013

Ate here last night with my Dad and already planning our return.
Both of our meals were absolutely delicious, full of flavour and extremely reasonably priced. I'm unable to eat gluten and although there was nothing specific on the dessert menu I could have the staff went out of their way to make me an Eton Mess.
Great atmosphere, lovely warm feel and fantastic staff. Looking forward to our next trip :-)

“Consistent good value pub food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2013

A regular haunt for my family and friends. Eat here at least twice a month. The food is always of a good if not high standard for the price charged. The beer is well kept - and there is always an interesting guest ale, often from a local micro brewery.

A big plus for me is that dogs are welcome, albeit in a specific section of the bar.

The staff are attentive without being overbearing.
