We have just returned from a short stay in Doolin where Mrs. Carey provided us with excellent accommodation, lovely breakfasts and memorable sunsets onto Galway Bay.
She helped us get the best out of our stay by her wealth of local information on all the sites, music venues etc.and we were able to enjoy some great music in Doolin.

We would also heartily recommend the Stonecutter's Restaurant across the road which offers excellent food - within walking distance! Food like that deserves a visit!

We would certainly go back and think you would find it a great base for a stay in Doolin.

We have just returned from nearly a month in Ireland and Scotland and we have to say that one of our best nights was at Emohruo Bed and Breakfast. We arrived about 3 p.m. on our very first day after the flight. In learning to negotiate driving on the left side of the road my husband had hit a pothole on the left edge, lost a hubcap and nearly ruined the wheel rim. We discovered this hours later and changed to the "fake" spare tire, but we knew that we had to fix or replace the rim and tire before we could go any further. As soon as we told Margaret, our hostess, she called a roaming wheel service who came to the bed and breakfast within an hour and fixed the wheel at a very reasonable price. While we were waiting she revived us with tea and biscuits, then recommended a pub where we were able to listen to traditional Irish music over supper, rather than waiting until late evening which we could not have done in our jet lagged state. The bedroom was clean, the bed was very comfortable and we were given a choice of when we wanted breakfast (which was not true in some of the other places). We were served a wonderful Full Irish Breakfast while watching a foal which had been born minutes before we arrived in the breakfast room. Margaret could not have been more helpful or hospitable and we will try to stay there when we go to Ireland again--perhaps for several days the next time.

  • Liked — The hospitality and frienliness of the hostess
  • Disliked — A little bit out of the way from town

Just returned from a 10 day trip to Ireland with my husband. It being our first time, we really wanted to experience the real Ireland and its people so we chose to stay at B & B's. Of all the B & B's we stayed in, Margaret's home was our favorite! She was the warmest, friendliest, most helpful and accomodating of all the hosts. A real native, she knows County Clare intimately and was able to direct us to all the best places to eat, drink and hear great Irish music! She has the perfect location being on the Cliffs of Moher road and 5 minute drive away from Doolin village.
However busy she was, she was always quite happy to sit and chat with us and answer our many questions.
Her home is absolutely charming with everything you might need available to you during your stay. Our room was very clean and comfortable. We were offered tea and scones along with a big cosy fire burning in the family room on our arrival. She serves a big Irish breakfast and makes sure everyone has plenty! Her Irish bread is to die for !! She makes it fresh every day! My husband was such a fan she even gave him a loaf as a parting gift!!!
When we think of Ireland and the hospitality and friendliness of its people we think of Margaret! Thank you so much. We will be back!

Not a day goes by that we don't talk about our trip to Ireland. We traveled around the whole island and found Emohruo the top place that we stayed. The accomodations were very comfortable, the food was amazing, and the company of Mrs. Carey was exceptional. The Cliffs of Moher are less than 10 minutes away (by car) and the bars and shops in Doolin are about 5 minutes. If you have a day or two take the ferry to the Aran Islands or a day trip through the Burren. Amazing scenery everywhere!! Truly felt like a home away from home!!

  • Liked — Locality almost directly in between Cliffs of Moher and town of Doolin.

We arrived at the Emohruo B&B to an amazingly warm greeting by Margaret Carey who had a peat fire waiting for us along with tea, a snack and very nice conversation.

The rooms are clean and comfortable with everything you'll need to be well rested during your stay, and the breakfast is about as good as it gets with Margaret ready to make you hot items to compliment the cereal selections. The sitting area is quite nice with a very cozy fireplace that always seems to be going in the evening. There is also a pay phone in the lobby available for your use.

This B&B is along the road to the Cliffs of Moher, but there is no need to be worried about road noise as this turned out to be a very quiet location that was great for enjoying all things in this part of Ireland.

If you've read the other reviews on this B&B's hostess, they're not kidding when the say how great Margaret is. She is just as sweet as they come and has answers to all your questions about the area. You'll just want to "hug the suffing" out of her.

We stayed for two days and didn't want to leave.

  • Liked — Margaret Carey, the hostess.
  • Disliked — Had to leave.
  • Tips/Secrets: — This B&B is a little farther down the Cliff of Moher road than the map might suggest. Just keep going until you see it on the south side of the road.
