“Great walk and unforgetteble views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2013

20 kms of undulating cliff edge. Enjoy the exercise the views the birdlife the geology. Lots of people traffic for 1 km either side of the visitors' centre and keep off the regeneration areas.

“Ranks up there with the Grand Canyon...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2013

...in terms of breathtaking scenery and better in terms of the relatively easy five-mile walk down from O'Brien's Tower to the village of Doolin. It is a "hike" that can be accomplished in about two hours by anyone in moderately good shape. It is worth every effort to get there and is a great family activity for children over ten years (may be too long a walk for those under ten).

“Leave the Crowds and see cliffs thorough a locals eyes”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2013

Stumbled across Pat Sweeney and his Doolin Cliff Walk. Don't bother with the crowds and the dreadful interpretative centre - this is the way to go. A kcal farmer in love with the landscape who generously shares himself and his stories.

“Doolin Cliff Walk”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013

If you don't do anything else whilst in the Doolin Area of County Clare, you must take the Cliff Walk with Pat Sweeney.

I used to live in the Doolin Area some years ago, and continue to make my annual visit to get my "Irish fix" staying at Pat and Mary Sweeney's bed and breakfast farmhouse which I thoroughly recommend - so relaxing, informal and made to feel "one of the family".

Pat has worked extremely hard over a period of some five years with his many farming neighbours and the local authority to bring about this cliff walk (previously out of bounds to the general public as it crosses private land). His desire to share his love of this landscape and its history is infectious. Walking this path is the only way of experiencing the breathtaking beauty of this coastline and you get an entirely different perspective on the Cliffs of Moher - the final destination and well worth a visit - if only for a very welcome cup of tea, but do not miss the "Atlantic Edge" video.

In the words of my 9 year old grandson on his first visit to Ireland and having just completed the cliff walk - "that was awesome".

“Safe, beautiful gentle hike along top of Cliffs of Mother with informative, enthusiastic friendly local gentleman.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2013 via mobile

Met guide Pat in Doolin for 3 hour walk to and along the Cliffs of Mother, ending at Visitors Center, where we caught ride back to town. Even with occasional showers and wind gusts, this gentle hike was amazing. Beautiful views up & down the coast, very different from what you can see at visitors center. Walk past castle, stone circles, ruins, and over stone bridge. Pat explained that path has been in development for some time, and is mostly completed. This means that most of path is gravel paved or has stone steps. There is secure fencing between path and cliff at points where path nears cliff. Until complete, there is some walking through grassy areas which were muddy in spots on this rainy day. While the wind was gusty at times, the wind was always from the water toward the land, so it was pushing me away from the cliffs. I never felt in any danger. Lots of great pictures.
