Out of all of the B&B's that we stayed in during our trip to Ireland this was our least favorite. The bed wasn't comfortable, the pillows felt like they were made of sawdust, and most of all our room wasn't the cleanest. It looked clean enough, but the linens didn't smell or feel very fresh, but the bathroom was the dealbreaker for us. There were other people's hairs in the shower, sink, and on the floor. This is just one of those things that beyond gross us out! The host Darra, seemed to be really frantic and stressed during our entire stay and just didn't exemplify the warm Irish hospitality we found elsewhere. The location is great, right near O'Connors pub, however Doolin is such a small and wonderful town no matter where you stay you are near the pubs and restaurants. I would choose a different B&B, but still visit Doolin! Doolin is a wonderful town that was one of the highlights of our trip!!

Dear Windycityf

Regarding your comment's on your stay with us last October.

It is naturally disappointing to hear that we did not meet your expectations and we would have hoped that you would have mentioned your concerns while you stayed with us.

We have been running a bed in breakfast for over 10 years and this is the first time any one has claimed that our home was unclean.

Our linens are laundered daily and replaced regularly. Likewise our bathrooms are cleaned thoroughly before a guest checks in.

The highly positive comments we receive from the vast majority of our guests bear testament to the quality of our bed and breakfast

Regards,

Darra Hughes

Darra is a good and very friendly hostess with a wealth of knowledge about the area and restaurants etc. It is a nice b&b close to the few shops and pub on the south side of Doolin, and also close to the pier. Our room was at the back with no view but it was a good size, clean and well decorated. The breakfast was plentiful and had a nice French toast option. Overall, this is an above average b&b, but at 45 euros pppn probably a bit over-priced for a back room in September. Despite the web site saying that tea/coffee facilities were available they were not in our room.

Darra & family's B&B is wonderful! The view from their home is unparalleled as it is perched on a hill right across from the small town of Doolin. The breakfast was great. The ensuite room was very comfortable and my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The location was a very short walk into Doolin and Darra assisted us with information about the local sights, boat tours, restaurants and where to see the best Doolin has to offer. I offer the highest praise for this B&B. Please see the photo for the view as you will surely not stay anywhere better in or around Doolin. We can't wait until our next visit.

The Inn is situated in a near perfect spot overlooking Doolin with views of the water. Our room was very clean. Breakfast was good and the conversation with the other guests enjoyable. The only real improvement to this lovely Inn would be a morning coffee service and an afternoon tea.

We stayed in May 2007 - Superb location - Walk to the village and the
pubs (excellent meals, but very crowded). The building is new, purpose-built, in very good condition - very clean, quiet and well maintained. Rooms are spacious and have great views. Darra is a fine host. As a multi-generational local, she seems to know just about everything about the area, and we found her advice on local tours to be first rate. Would definitely stay here again.
