We loved Daly's House. Susan definitely gets involved in your sightseeing plans, but more like an enthusiastic friend than someone who's "in your face." And her tips were all excellent.

The breakfasts were wonderful -- excellent selection and quality (I wish I had a year's supply of that muesli). The breakfast room is a great setting, with all of the windows, although it does get a little warm in there (sort of a greenhouse effect).

We stayed with Susan in June 2007. It was our second night in Ireland having stayed the previous at a B&B in Kildare. We subsequently spent a further 5 nights in B&Bs around Ireland and felt that Susan came on rather strong for our liking. There seemed to be a lot of in your face notices or directions and after our previous hospitality found that Susan and her breakfasts
were a little near. ie.cereal OR fruit and yogurt OR . and portions were strickly placed. Something we did not find anywhere else in Ireland i.e. In most places cereals fruits juices etc were there for you to help yourself.

Susan is the late Gus O'Connor's daughter, and she knows the music scene there very well. Suspect the music in the 3 pubs is professionally organised, (rather than locals dropping by when they feel like it) but it's all the better for that. Some of the musicians are world class. You couldn't find a better place to explore Irish traditional music.

The boat trip to the Aran Islands and the Cliffs is teriffic too.

I loved this place from the moment we arrived, and although it is a difficult choice, it was my favorite B & B out of 3 that we stayed in in Ireland.

Susan is a wonderful host and her out-going personality is very helpful. She made many recommendations to us on arrival in the area, and she offered us tea or coffee. Then she showed us to our lovely room upstairs. The room was very warm and inviting with pine cabinets, and a large tiled bathroom. The linens were high quality and there were large windows to open for circulation.

The breakfast in the sunroom was very nice with the sun coming in and the breakfast was delicious. The gardens outside were also nice to sit outside on a pretty day.

Susan offers internet service for a small fee.

We walked down to the local pub at night and my only regret is not having a flash light for walking home late at night. It was very dark and the pot holes in the gravel road were impossible to see. After a few drinks it is especially difficult, and I almost felt like crawling home !

I only wish we could have stayed more than one night. I would love to return and stay here in the future.

Doolin is a really great little village with great traditional music. Daly's was a really great place to stay while we were there. The turn off on the road to Daly's is easy to miss so be looking! Susan's trip suggestion hand out was really informative and helped us plan our stay around Doolin. I really enjoyed my stay.

Susan Daly is a cheerful and warm hostess, offering a excellent B&B accommodation in proximity to O'Connor's Pub in the southern portion of Doolin. Her home is bright and well maintained, and her tips for touring in the area were well appreciated (particularly regarding the Monk's Cafe in Ballyvaughan, where we had perhaps the best smoked salmon we've ever enjoyed). Susan went out of her way to make reservations for us at the Roadford House Restaurant in Doolin (outstanding!) and also recommended the Lazy Lobster (which we would also highly recommend). Daly's House is a good bet for visting in Doolin.

  • Liked — the owner and how helpful she was to us
  • Disliked — the unpaved driveway providing common access to homes in the area

Susan Daly was very accommodating in getting us checked in early to get over jet lag. The advise of what to visit was greatly appreciated and the food was excellent. Nice setting close to O'Conners Pub (walking distance) with great Trad music.
