Having scoured the TripAdvisor in search of a comfortable and decently priced bed and breakfast close to the Cliffs of Moher, I eventually chose Atlantic View House in Doolin. Atlantic View happened to be the best accommodation I had during my one week trip to Ireland. In the next few paragraphs I will be commenting on its location, room, and breakfast.
My decision to choose Atlantic View House was based on its close proximity to the cliffs of Moher. I was disappointed to learn that the cliffs were about a twenty minute drive away from the B&B. Having explored the area, I came to the realization that no other bed and breakfast is located within walking distance from the cliffs. Fortunately, Atlantic View House enjoys proximity to Doolin pier from which one can sail to the Aran Islands. I advise everyone to dress warmly; even in the midst of August, I felt cold in my 100% woollen sweater while walking to nearby pubs. Apart from the two nearby bars, one can dine in a neighbouring Italian restaurant, which offers a cosy milieu and is less crowded than the bars. Atlantic View House guests can also shop at the souvenir shops and a grocery store that are situated within walking distance from the accommodation.
Having booked my room two months prior to departure, I was given a room on the second floor with a view of the ocean. I am enclosing two photos taken inside the room. The room was spacious even according to American / Canadian standards. It was also equipped with luxuries that make the guest feel privileged. Among these luxuries were a hairdryer, a chest with extra blankets, an electric kettle, biscuits, tea, coffee, and sweetener. The bed and breakfast was supplied with a water cooler located by the entrance, where I filled up my bottle to make tea. The toiletry was relatively fancy and in abundance. The bathroom was elegantly decorated, providing a stylish atmosphere. The pictures on the walls, too, reflected a refined sense of style. Guests could also avail themselves of the books and magazines placed in a small bookcase in the hallway.
Breakfast was served in a spacious dinning room that overlooked the ocean. The menu contained a variety of foods, both cold and hot, beautifully adorned and served in exquisite china dishes. The owner, whose name escapes me at the moment, waited upon guests patiently and served coffee and tea. As a vegetarian I found plenty to eat.
Atlantic View House is a charming accommodation, elegantly decorated and professionally maintained. It does not fail the guests in terms of location, view, service or food.
