“Interesting hideaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013

First visit to this unusual place for this area. The small cosy cafe is situated on a large country estate. It was a cold bleak day and most of us opted for the home made soup each trying a different flavour, each was delicious. We were also offered (and accepted) complimentary mulled wine. The walk through the woods to the lake in the winter sun was really enjoyable.

Had recently been told about this hidden gem. Been going to Scorton for years, but certainly didn't know that this place was there I understand that it has only been opened to the public for the past two years. Having friends coming to stay with us from the South East, we always like to try and find somewhere different to take them each time they visit us, which is a very difficult task when they have been coming for so long. This time we did it, What a pleasure it was, to have afternoon tea there, which was absolutely delicious, rhe pleasantness of the owner and staff great. Very impressed, our 1st visit but certainly will not be our last. We enjoyed our walk around the grounds and Lake, Such a pity that this is not sign posted better, feel sure that had we not know about it, we would have missed it.

My husband and I went to tea there on Bank Holiday May 7th 2012. I had a beautiful piece of Victoria Sponge and my husband had a piece of Toffee covered cake. The tea was in a large teapot and enabled us to have lots of cups.It is a quaint and interesting place. The owner served us and she was very polite and charming. Someone at Wyredale knows how to cook as the sponge was wonderful. I would recommend a visit. However, the signs to it are not very clear. When you turn off the road towards the house carry on down the track and at the end before you reach another unmade road/track turn left. The cafe is housed partly in a Victorian Hot House. The lavatories consist of one for each sex and are across a lawn.

Room Tip: We didn't see the Camp site as we only had afternoon tea. We live too near to stay there but the...
