We had a meal booked in Hampton-in-Arden and came across the Manor's stylish website.
Someone has put a lot of thought and effort into making this so attractive.
I was reminded of the themed suites at the Le Manoir, but without the self-consciousness.
We hoped there would be a lack of the braying hoorays that marred our visit there as well...
There was nothing to worry about.
The hotel is in very good order, looking and feeling every bit as stylish as the website led us to believe.
Booking.com had put us in one of the 2 larger suites - the George Fentham - a very good size, all tall ceilinged grandeur, clean lines and sumptuous fabrics. The king sized bed was spot-on comfy, if a little lost at one end of the room.
Big flat screen TV with DVD and an iPod dock to play your own soundtrack held up the tech end, while the organic tea and cookies provided the refreshment.
The large bathroom has a roll top slipper bath AND walk-in shower. Nice.
The suite retains some character features from previous era too, with the fireplaces and sash windows.
Had a small niggle with some non-functioning curtains, but these were closed upon our return from dinner.
We had some cocktails late in the evening (try if you're feeling adventurous) and breakfast the next morning, both in Peel's Restaurant. Delicious eggs ben - just right.
We both felt relaxed and a little bit special after our stay, I think Mr & Mrs Smith should visit...
