“A wonderful impromptu stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2009

We pitched up at Homewood Park having been unable to get to our origibnal destination because of the snow.
We stayed in Room 4 which is a delux room overlooking the front lawn. The room has a four poster bed and a small but adequate bathroom. The bed was very comfortable, my only complain is the shower pressure is a little low and it is hard to wash soap out of your hair etc.
The staff at Homewood Park were fantastic, everysingle one was friendly and greeted us kindly.
We ate dinner in the evening and enjoyed the finedining experience. Although the portions are typically small, the canapes with drinks and amuse bouche combined with a throughily enjoyable 2 hour meal made me feel quite full. The food and service were faultless. Breakfast was equally as good with a nice selection of alternatives such as porridge and smoked haddock on the menu.
Homewood Park had a lovely festive feel. Tastefully decorated with carols on in the background. It snowed overnight and this added to the atmosphere. The hotel's cats made us feel right at home too.
Homewood Park is a really speacial place to stay. I felt pampered from start to finish. We will definitely go back when the occasion arises.

Homewood Park is a beautiful country house hotel, in a perfect setting. The rooms - ours was room 19, a junior suite, was excellent. A sitting room with large sofa and armchairs and TV. Huge bathroom with large free standing bath, separate rain shower and two wash basins. A lovely bedroom with one of the best beds we've ever slept in.
Food is perfect if the service is slow. Watch out for the unseen extras though, they ask if you wwould like a morning paper, normally complientary in a hotel of this level, we were charged. We were offered tea on arrival, very nice too, real leaf tea andgod china - but that was also extra. Not a lot true, but at that price a cup of tea and newspaper should be complimentary. Buit all in all it is a perfect romantic country retreat.

It is hard to find places at the weekend in Bath that accept one night bookings but this hotel does - phew! We had a night away without children and were running late. I called from my mobile and they sorted a taxi for us into Bath centre. On arrival check in was quick and room service delivered the predinner G&T instantaneously. The room (junior suite) was stylishly decorated with good quality fittings (a bit Le Manoir esque) with a huge bed and Frette linen. Taxi into Bath took about 10-15 mins and cost £15-20 depending on the time. On arrival home from dinner at 2am a nightcap in the comfortable bar (just us there) was no problem.

In the morning the beautiful garden with mist over the lawn was a joy. The breakfast staff happily laid up a table for us in the window so we could enjoy the view even though there were other tables available elsewhere in the breakfast room. Full English was delicious with excellent black pudding.

My only quibble is that on arrival they ask you whether you would like a prebreakfast drink delivered to your room without mentioning that it costs £7!

Sorry to have to rush off to pick up the kids on Sunday morning - would happily have wandered through the gardens longer.

We chose to stay here for our anniversary. It's location is perfect for sightseeing in bath as well as the surrounding countryside. The hotel is very tastefully decorated and immaculately presented. The staff are well organised and seem to genuinely enjoy their jobs. Nothing was too much trouble and the food is outstanding. We were in room 10. If i had to be really critical the only downside is that the hairdryer was all noise and no power and my husband managed to flood the floor due to the very shallow shower tray and no screen. There was also no fridge in the room, which is always handy to keep a chilled drink in but room service was fantastic and more than made up for this. We had a fabulous stay.

We stayed at Homewood Park with our two children (12 and 5) over the Easter weekend. We has one of the larger Suites with the sitting room converted to a bedroom for the children, which provided their own space/t.v. etc. The room was fantastic and food excellent for all. Whilst this hotel is not specifically 'family friendly there is provision of DVD's/Playstation games if the weather is not god and the staff throughout the hotel could not have made us more welcome. We will definitely return.

Excellent staff, beautiful grounds, large bedrooms and wonderful interior decor. Go to relax, chat, be alone or be together.
However - if you are like me a need a nice hot shower after a long drive then you will be dissapointed. No stars for the showers - and annoyingly I have just read other people have made the same complaint. So when the lady on reception feigned surprise she was clearly lying.
Also the "outdoor heated swimming pool open from April" - more like a cold pea soup so you might want to phone ahead if you are after a swim.
Still it is a beautiful place to relax and the staff and the Hotel don't deserve to be let down by shoddy plumbing - so I gave it 4 out of 5.

Homewood Park is an absolute gem. The staff are warm and welcoming, the decor elegantly understated and the food is really something special. The hotel is set in beautifully kept grounds. It has a very homely feel thanks to the open fires and the hotel's two resident cats. Rooms are very comfortable and feature a pleasing blend of traditional and modern furnishings. Best of all the stunning city of Bath is just a short drive away so you can do a spot of sightseeing or shopping while you're here. This really is the sort of place you just don't want to leave but hey there's always next time!
