For my Wife’s 40th birthday, we decided to stay at Homewood Park for 2 nights as a relaxing treat. The junior was faultless, very luxurious in every way and was a great surprise that I hoped it would be to treat my wife. The spa is a great addition to the hotel, we can recommend the massage at the hands of the girls and whilst the outdoor pool may seem daunting in the cooler weather, the temperature was well maintained and it was very pleasant. To get to the spa area you have a short trek outside which would benefit from some cover as the paving slabs became slippery when it rained and you get a little wet in your robe and slippers.
The grounds are beautifully kept and maintained and the staff always have a smile on their faces and we could not find fault with the breakfast, lunch and dinner we enjoyed during our stay. Whilst in the main the hotel is well kept, the lounge sofas could benefit from some updating / replacing as they were looking tired and well sat upon.
Unfortunately the other events during our stay, tainted what should have been a luxurious and thoroughly enjoyable stay away. Having been told that a high class restaurant we had booked some time before our stay was a greater distance than anticipated and would be extremely costly by taxi, we went with the reception staff suggestion of an equally as lovely local restaurant in Bath. After having conformation from the reception staff that the restaurant was booked and confirmed, we cancelled our previous booking. You can then imagine our dismay, upset and embarrassment when we turned up in the evening to be told that no booking had been made and that the restaurant was fully booked up some several weeks previous. Being 8pm on a Friday night, the night of my wife’s birthday, after trying several other restaurants close by, again only to be told they were fully booked, we eventually found a restaurant, not quite as fitting that i had hoped for, for a special birthday meal out. Whilst the two staff we saw that evening on our return to the hotel apologies for the mix up, this didn’t really go far enough for spoiling what was hoped to be a special evening out.
The other issue which was a bug bear was the additional services charges added to everything when you get the bill. I would recommend not getting your breakfast delivered to your room, at £5 additional charge per person; this in my opinion was excessive. The hotel also adds service charges to everything! We brought two glass of wine and nibbles from the bar, took them away from the bar ourselves to a seat, then on the bill we were charged an additional 10% service charge. Despite staying in the hotel, when having the evening meal, again we were charged a 10% service charge and then to top that, having breakfast, included in our package, we ordered two glasses of buck fizz off the breakfast menu, in the dining area, not our room and again were charge 10% service charge, the hotel seems to service charge every service!
Whilst a lovely hotel, great settings, very peaceful, our experience and the additional charges which we have never experienced in any other hotel we have stayed in, has made us think twice if we ever return.

Thank you for your recent review.
I am pleased that there were many positive aspects to your stay including the Junior Suite and The Spa.
However, I can only apologise for the mix-up with the restaurant in Bath, we have investigated the matter and Reception definitely booked the table with Sotto Sotto and we have confirmed this with them.
I do hope that we will have the opportunity to welcome you back to Homewood Park in the future, and if you do decide to give us another try please do contact me on 01225 723731 to personally arrange your stay.
