Its like being at home, whilst on holiday. The location and accommodation are lovely. The hosts Sarah and John can not do enough for you. The breakfasts are first rate. The atmosphere is warm and friendly and you soon get to know the other guests over breakfast, whilst admiring the views over the Mawddach Estuary.

Room Tip: All the rooms are good

A properly customer focused set up where you are happy to pay the money and want to tell them they could charge a bit more! Great, tidy and stylish set up with helpful service. I'll be going back.
Great views from the breakfast area and a lovely sitting room as well as the bedrooms. The whole place has a very easy going, friendly vibe.

What a " Little Gem" this was, we received a warm welcome with welsh cakes & a lovely cuppa. The location was stunning, you were surrounded by nature at its best. Waking to bird song every morning, & looking out of your window across the estuary at the wonderful view was delightful. Sarah made you very welcome & her breakfasts,(with home baked "yummy bread" & local produce) certainly set you up for the day! Our bedroom was very well appointed, the bed extremely comfortable , & the en-suite with a large double shower was wonderful.
We would certainly recommend " THE SLATE SHED" to anyone looking for a relaxing, peaceful place to stay.

As regular visitors to the area, we'd always promised ourselves a stay at the Slate Shed and my 50th birthday seemed the perfect excuse to give it a try. What can I say except fabulous.
The accommodation is immaculate, and the bubbly on arrival (arranged by my partner and Sarah the owner!) topped the lot.
We watched a fantastic sunset over the estuary, the location on the Mawddach estuary is surely one of the finest in the UK. Breakfast the following morning was excellent, plenty of local produce and home made bread.
You may think it a little pricey, but you could stay in a far inferior hotel with no charachter, or personal touch that you get here, and hey the views are worth that alone.
The path down to the old railway line which is now a path and cycle track is steep, but a great way to walk off that breakfast.
This place is perfect for couples, I camped here a few years ago (they also have electric hook up pitches and a lower camping field) and vowed to come back one day.
So glad we did.

We stayed for just one night in May this year and will go back again. Lovely warm welcome from Sarah, plus a pot of fresh coffee and the most wonderful freshly baked chocolate brownies. Gorgeous room with amazing view and fantastic shower. Lovely location and nice relaxed atmosphere.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back have the most amazing views.

What a fabulous place this is. Our room was classily furnished, comfortable, stylish and well equipped, with a spacious bathroom. We were warmly welcomed by Sarah on arrival and even the presence of an unexpected dog was not a problem ! The breakfasts were delicious and plentiful, and nothing appeared to be too much trouble. Highly recommended in every category.

Me, my partner and our miniature schnauzer enjoyed a perfect weekend in one of the yurts at grain wen. We visited last October and found the location perfectly peaceful yet not isolated. We walked various surrounding locations and found the walking recommendations from staff extremely helpful.
We are desperate to return!
