“Good spot for no nonsense Sunday lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2013

Went here for the first time a couple of weeks ago for the Sunday carvery - great amount of choice of roasts along with all the typical veg and trimmings you would want. Service was quick and friendly even when it was obviously very busy. Great to see Cromarty beers available too.

“Never again!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2013

We booked a table for dinner based on reviews we had seen both on Tripadvisor and elsewhere. We arrived for dinner at the appointed time and were met with a cacophony of noise. Our table was in the corner of the conservatory. We could hardly hear each other speak. We ordered from a huge menu (this should have be warning enough). We ordered and waited. 40 mins later our started arrived. My wife had crabclaws and scallops in garlic butter and I had scallops and porkbelly with black pudding. Both dishes very over cooked and dried out. Scallops tasted as if they had been cooked in burned oil. Black Pudding was greasy. When our plates were cleared we were not asked of everything had been ok. Our main course arrived 20 mins later. The seafood tagleatelli was over cooked , the seafoood tasted burnt. Seafood platter was horribly over cooked, as where the chips. Finger bowl arrived, complete with bread and butter on the side......why? We sent the the food back and said we would like the bill. The waitress agreed that the food may not have been up to standard. The bill when it arrived included 2 glassses of wine, my wife only had one, two bottles of sparkling water, when we only had one. We gave our card and waited for at least 15 mins. The waitress returned informing me that they were too busy, and that we could have the bill on the house.
They were clearly far too busy for the number of staff on duty. The kitchen staff were quite clearly in over their heads judging by the quality of the food.

“very friendly,good value for money”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2013

Called in one day without a reservation but were met by friendly staff and shown to a table. The menu was superb, the choices varied and reasonably priced. The meal was quickly served, tasty and plentiful and would recommend this establishment very highly.

“Excellent food with good chef.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

You might drive past given that the building is not striking, but that would be a mistake. The menu is extensive and the food of the highest quality. The chef is excellent, although be prepared for large portions. We found a main course and a shared sweet more than adequate. Prices are very reasonable given the high quality of food and excellent service. Plenty of parking to rear.
