“Perfect weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2014

My family and I visited for a weekend last autumn and we loved it. We were so welcomed and well-looked after by the staff. The food - breakfast and dinner - was incredible. Fine dining at its best. And the rooms were clean and cosy. The lodge has an old-fashioned feel about it, almost like a grand family home, we felt so at home and relaxed. The location is perfect to access some of most beautiful scenery Northern Ireland has to offer. Would highly recommend for a weekend away.

If sparkling, huge high-tech bathrooms and modern facilities are what you're after, keep looking. If you want an atmospheric, memorable, welcoming, gourmet experience you will remember for ever, you're in the right place.

Glassdrumman is an elegant historic lodge in a beautiful rural setting, but its real attraction is its hosts Joan and her gourmet chef son Jonny. Thoughful touches like a welcoming letter with suggestions of activities in the area, a complimentary drink as we checked in, port and delicious homemade fudge on the table when we came up to bed all made us feel especially welcome.

After pre-dinner drinks by the fire, we enjoyed a memorable dinner prepared by Jonny. No wonder he runs cooking courses here! Absolutely delicious. We were made to feel so welcome and played cards by the fire after dinner.

We enjoyed Jonny's skills again at breakfast, sitting at the table where the likes of golfers Nick Faldo, Jack Nicklaus, Tom Watson and flautist James Galway have all feasted.

Room Tip: Great accomodation for those playing Royal County Down who have a car.

Overall, we very much enjoyed our one-night stay here. The bedroom was stunning with lovely views, the snug bar (with wood-burning stove) was cosy, and the evening dinner was fabulous. Yes, the menu was very limited, but the presentation and quality of food was excellent.
A good base for walking in the mountains of Mourne, but unfortunately, not enough hot water for a good bath soak (either in the evening of arrival, or the morning after). but otherwise, a great place with some nice touches and good service.

Room Tip: Mountain views are very worthwhile!

I very recently visited the Glassdrumman Lodge, for an evening dinner and overnight stay. It was a business event for a group of c20. The standard of the menu and the food was top glass; the warm and relaxing atmosphere perfect, and the attention to detail and personal service was exceptional. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending the Glassdrumman Lodge for a unique top quality experience, that is so difficult to find these days.

My wife and I recently stayed at Glassdrumman Lodge and both of us were totally blown away by the level of service and attention to detail shown to us throughout our entire visit.

The staff at the hotel was very professional and entirely customer focused, in fact every aspect of this hotel is customer focused.

There is no shortage of 5* pleasantries, though this is carried out in a very discrete manner making the feeling luxurious though relaxed.

The rooms were immaculate and highly finished, they were also kept clean and refreshed at all times. Our room was always topped up with high-end chocolates and fresh fruit, which made us feel so accommodated too.

We were particularly impressed with the dinning, and can say with confidence that it was easily up there with the best....

Location and surrounding Co. Down landscape is world-class offering both beautiful scenery and an abundance of out door activities such as horse riding or hiking.

Really hope we get the chance to visit again soon.
Thanks to all at GLASSDRUMMAN LODGE

Due to a problem with Google maps we did not actually get to stay at Glassdrumman Lodge and had to cancel on the morning of our proposed visit. Ben was sympathetic and said he would look into the problem. We had paid a 25% deposit which he could easily have kept. However this was refunded to us in full and I think illustrates his committment to good customer relations. Allied to the wonderful reviews of this property I cannot wait to actually stay here!
