“What a Fab place!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2013

We found this gem of a place on bike-stay.net. We did a motorcycle tour of Cumbria and took a detour on our way home simply because we'd fallen in love with the pictures of The Old Manse Barn and couldn't wait to visit. The main attractions for us were the unique breakfasting experience and the views from the bed, and neither of these things disappointed. There was so much lovely food, cheese, ham, bread, eggs, fresh fruit, jams, cereals, yoghurts and some really tasty homemade treats which were a great personal touch. The food was so plentiful that we ate half for our supper the night before and still had more than enough for breakfast! There was also a wide selection of drinks both hot and cold. The accomodation itself was outstanding; spotlessly clean, very comfortable especially the bed which also had luxurious feather pillows, and the personal touches were beyond compare. Everything you could possibly think of was provided, and plenty of things you wouldn't think of either! Toiletries, DVDs, books, magazines, local information and maps, games, even binoculars and umbrellas; Every time we opened a cupboard we got another surprise. Also, dressing gown, slippers, even paracetamol in the bathroom cabinet. And not forgetting there's a wi-fi connection and beautiful flowers throughout, and yes, the view from the bed is outstanding, a beautiful and calming way to start the day. Sue has done an amazing job and is so welcoming that you feel you are staying with friends whist still maintaining absolute privacy. Many thanks Sue, from Sue and Don, Swansea

We recently visited Old Manse Barn as a surprise for my birthday!!! This was the second time we had stayed at Old Manse Barn and Sue made us feel just as welcome if not more than the first time. EVERYTHING about Old Manse Barn is perfect. It feels so welcoming, peaceful, and all immaculately presented. We had the most amazing, relaxing time and really can't wait til we visit again very soon.We really can't recommend this accommodation highly enough an absolute gem and a real credit to Sue and her family.

Not often you find first class accommodation, lovely surroundings, great breakfast and welcoming owners but you get all of this and more at the Old Manse Barn.
I stayed here twice whilst on a training course with work, once with my partner and once alone. The accommodation is in beautiful surroundings in a quiet little village. The views from the room are beautiful and it is so peaceful. The facilities are immaculate and beautifully presented with double bed, dining area, lounge, kitchen and bathroom with lovely big shower!!
But it isnt just the lovely appartment that makes the stay wonderful is all the little touches too, everything has been thought off. From WIFI connection to dressing gown slippers, and even cotton wool pads in the bathroom! The food is lovely with owner Sue preparing great delights for breakfast in their plenty. Danishes, fruit, fresh meat - sausages, ham, yoghurts. A range of things to drink - wine, beer, water, coke, fresh fruit juice, tea, coffee, specialists teas and cafetiere, As well as crisps to snack on. There was such a selection I enjoyed a lovely breakfast and had plenty left for a packed lunch too!! All topped up daily!!
The Owner Sue and her family were lovely and really welcoming and couldnt do enough for us.
I really cant recommend this accommodation enough is a real gem and if you ever in the area highly recommend a visit! Am looking for a good reason to return!
Beautiful area, immaculate and lovely accomadation superb breakfast food and lovely people!!

my family and I stayed here in October 2012. Sue was very kind to allow our 2 children to sleep on camping matresses on the floor whilst we had the enormous bed. There was plenty of floor space for them. This property is beautifully appointed in every way. It is immaculate in presentation, the facilities super and lots of lovely little touches to make any stay perfect.

The setting is idyllic with beautiful views to wake up to, a great way to start the day. We would definitely recommend this property and Sue, her son and daughter-in-law were excellent hosts. Thank you so much and we hope to return sometime! The Tuckers

Be in no doubt, this really is a 5-star place to stay. We've been 4 times - varying from 1-night to 8-nights, and will be happy to go back again and again. The accomodation is extremely clean and comfortable. The breakfast is plentiful, varied, beautifully presented. The views are peaceful, expansive, restful. An evening meal can be obtained locally (pubs very near by, walking distance), although there are facilities for doing things yourself, in-house. And Sue and Ian are very welcoming, ideal hosts. The only danger in recommending this too highly is that others might book it when we want to go...

We where in bury st Edmunds for a wedding and wanted somewhere nice to stay as we had a rare night away from our daughter. This place was amazing!!! It is separate from the main house so we could come & go as we pleased. It's extremely clean, the help yourself breakfast was lovely & the views are stunning. I can highly recommend the old manes barn.

Absolutely amazing stay. The room is clean, well thought about and perfect for any small break!! The food was super too, so tasty and cute. Sue and her slaughter in law both made us feel so welcome and then left us to enjoy. The area is very quaint and super sweet to drive around...Thank you! Defo recommend.
