“A very warm Irish welcome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2012

We stayed at Ballinterry House for one night in July 2012 when attending a wedding in Ballyvolane House. Ann had been very happy to email me the answers to all my questions in advance, including the directions from Cork airport which are very straightforward.
We got a great warm welcome from Ann including a pot of tea and homemade cake when we arrived. The room was very comfortable and bathroom well equipped. It looked sparkling new.
Ann and her partner have done a great job refurbishing the old house.
The sitting room area was beautiful, full of old books and with comfortable sofas. We had a lovely late breakfast the following day. We thought the rate charged was very reasonable. I would have no hesitation in recommending Ballinterry House. Our only regret was that our stay was so short. We would have loved to stay longer.

We visited Ballinterry House in August with our two school-aged children and my parents. Ann and Michael are wonderful, accommodating hosts who made us feel welcome from start to finish. They served a delicious home-made dinner on our first evening, and the cooked-to-order breakfasts were delightful. The rooms are nicely decorated with very high quality linens and towels, and each room has a modern en suite bathroom with shower or tub. The house unexpectedly also had WiFi, making it easy to stay on top of things at home. Ann and Michael really go the extra mile to make sure that all of your needs are met. We all felt our 3 day visit was too short and would welcome an opportunity to return to Ballinterry House.

We visited Ballinterry House back in February this year to investigate the area ahead of our wedding in May (Ballyvolane House). We were immediately struck by Michael and Ann's warm welcome and beautiful home. Ann welcomed us in and gave us a tour of their home which they have lovingly restored. Our room was beautiful designed, luxurious and had a charming old worldly feel, the decanter filled with port and salty cashew nuts were an added bonus! No sooner than we had unpacked than Ann invited us to home made scones with cream and jam and freshly brewed coffee, served in the their sitting room., a room that was very comfortable and stacked full of interesting books. The following morning Ann served the most delicious breakfast - all made to order with a selection of home baked treats and fruit compotes to keep hunger at bay until breakfast was served! Ann and Michael gave us plenty of useful intel about the surrounding area from where to eat, beautiful walks, hairdressers the works! We enjoyed our weekend so much that we paid them another visit in March and again in May!! On our second and thrid visit with family and friends Ann prepared supper and desert, all very reasonably priced considering the quality of the food. The at home dining meant we were able to stay in and catch up with family in the comfort of their beautiful home. Ann and Michael have a very special set-up in East Cork, they really go the extra mile, interesting people themselves and great embasadors for Ireland and all it has to offer. I could go on forever but in a nutshell excellent food, hospitality, beautiful house and surrounding area...we will be back again and again!
