“Eat at the Bistro but stop in Mac's Pub next door”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

The food at the Bistro was top shelf with modest pricing. Next door and part of the complex is Max's Pub and I agree with their patrons that they have the best Guiness in all of Ireland as they let it sit in the keg for ten days before tapping. We met some really nice people that worked there including Mash who kept our pints full and a patron named Alex who actually took us in his car and would not take any payment,to Glendaloch a monastic settlement founded in the 6th century by St Kevin. It was a highlight of our trip to Ireland...

“Old fashioned and rather cold”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2012

Granted it was a cold night but the restaurnat was draughty and as it was not very busy rather lacking in atmosphere. One starter in particular Scallops was very amateurish and tiny. Two main courses of Rib Eye steak came with very large side dishes including enough salad to feed about 10 persons. Desserts were reasonable but coffee was not very good and even a tad cold, This could have been so mcuh better with a little care and attention.

Better than Gordon Ramsey. The Bistro is warm and friendly with delicious fresh fish, lamb, locally sourced vegetables. Patricia Clarke is a gem of a chef. Paul is a wonderful Maitre d.
