“My Wedding”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2014

I got married here in October. We rented the whole house for a week. The staff went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect. They were flexible and so fun. It felt like our house for the week! We are definitely going to stay here every time we come back to Ireland for at least a couple of days. The pictures don't do the Moy House justice--It's absolutely spectacular and I would recommend this for anyone who wants to travel with great service in a small-boutique like atmosphere.

A small boutique hotel on the fringes of Lahinch, combining elegance, luxury and a personal touch par excellence. Superb. Direct Access to a sandy beach, on its own grounds. Room was full of character, bed was comfortable in the extreme. A marvellous experience, the personal touch excellent. Just be aware they don't do dinner every night.

Two sets of friends highly recommended this place to us and because of that we booked for three nights. We knew ahead of time when we booked that we would have a sea view room the first night and then have to move to a small garden room the second night and then possibly be moved again the third night to another sea view room if one were available. The sea view room was upstairs and was called Carrowgar. It was very nice, queen bed; quiet and the bath was fair size, fluffy towels and the shower was wonderful. The view of the sea is absolutely lovely from almost all the rooms in the hotel.

The second day we were moved to a very small room, called Moybeg, which was okay but the bath was a total joke. No mirror at all, so they brought a mirror on a stand for us to use. The two faucets (hot side and cold side) did not come far enough out into the sink to get our hands under them. There was mold on the blinds, ceiling and walls. The face towel was badly frayed and the bath towels were very thin. All this was unacceptable to us, especially at 185 euros per night. When we got to our room the windows were open and it was freezing, so we turned on the heat, but it was on a timer and went off before it warmed up.

The morning of the third day we were offered to be moved to another sea view room Kilmanaheen , room 207, next to the dining room, and it is just splendid. Large king comfortable bed, large beautifully decorated room, very quiet, nice bathroom with large fluffy towels. I believe they were so very generous and “comped” us an upgrade.

The breakfast is to rave about, with great selection and beautifully presented. Every morning we had a fruit plate with mint yogurt and it was so delicious. The porridge is yummy especially with the vanilla cream they serve it with.

There is a “lounge room” where you can make your own drink with a huge selection of different marks. It is on the “honor system”, so you write your name and what you had and how many drinks. Very lovely comfortable place to relax and meet new people. Sadly, there is no area outside to sit and read and relax.

We enjoyed the manager, Shamus, and Margaret is adorable with a wonderful personality, sense of humor and so accommodating. The sea view rooms are expensive, but worth it, whereas the small garden room was expensive and did not have the value. Ask for a sea view room, but expect to pay for it—about 280 euros.

This lovely place appeared to be, in some areas, run down with chipping paint, dirty carpets and windows, mold in the small bathroom and from what we could see it offers no tea, coffee or snacks during the daytime after breakfast. Dirty towels were left on a seat in the hallway all night and into the next afternoon. Detail does not seem to be a strong point, at least when we were there. Possibly they were understaffed. We understood they are going to do a lot of clean up after it closes for the season

Ask for the Carrowgar room upstairs as it has no one on either side and is quiet or better yet, downstairs, the Kilmanaheen room, which is simply devine. Don’t miss this gem.

We stayed at Moy House on a couples golf trip. The food, staff and rooms were amazing. We really enjoyed our time. We will absolutely return!

PS - If you need a driver call Marty! He'll show you some pubs that are local favorites.

The Moy House is the perfect spot to stay in Lahinch! We spent two nights there and wished we could have stayed longer. Margaret and Seamus were wonderful hosts and provided great service. Our room was beautifully appointed, and provided a spectacular view of the ocean. The dining room was quaint with beautiful views as well. we definitely will return and spend more time.

We recently spent a night in Moy House. We had a very comfortable room with an amazing sea view. We got a great welcome from Seamus and he and his colleagues made us feel at home while they provided us with everything we required including details of the next stage of our journey. We had a delicious dinner there with all dietary needs considered, and breakfast was sumptuous setting us up for a very busy day. The walks nearby are great, the proximity of the beach is a bonus and will definitely encourage us to return. All the services of a 5 star room are provided, adding to the enjoyment of Moy House. We were lucky the other guests all wanted peace and tranquility so we had a good sleep! We also had sunshine for our visit!

Room Tip: A sea view is best to appreciate the beauty of the area
