Description: The Drift Inn bar and restaurant Buncrana is one like no other, set against the windswept banks of the Lough Swilly it stands out as a main vocal point on entrance to the town. The Drift Inn has a history which many will agree compares to no other bars in Buncrana, once a functioning railway station up until the mid 1900's it has kept this theme very close to the heart of the bar with original railway timetables still to be seen on the walls of the premises and the water tower once used to fill steam trains standing tall at the rear of the premises. The drift Inn also has a strong connection with the sea as our name would suggest, the connection is carried through the bar and restaurant with our boat shaped bar the "St.Jude" standing strong over these many years having many drinks crossing her deck. The has a wide variety of areas for each patron to enjoy a drink or a bit to eat, the more relaxed harness room is an old favourite of many patrons with the open fire always blazing, the main bar boasts an open brick fire which ha been know the burn full trees in one day (depending on the staff working), then we have the more private "wee room" with a piano incase anyone is feeling musical after a few stout (which many think is the best pint of stout in the town). There is also two tv's which play all major sporting events and can be split between two to meet everybodys needs.

“Great bar”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2013

While staying in buncrana last weekend we called into the drift inn for a few drinks. We got a great welcome from the staff and there were two fires blazing. It is a lovely old fashion bar/reastraunt.The pints off guinness were great and the service was fantastic. We had a lovely meal which we could not fault and very reasonably priced. If visiting the area you will not be disappointed with this great place.

“Great local and friendly bar and eatery”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013

Visit here often with my family. The food is well priced and very tasty. Try the Drift Inn burger. It is great. You can eat in both the bar and restaurant. Restaurant if the bar is busy as I can get noisy. Looking forward to going back.

“Fantastic food and lovely staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012

On a recent trip to Donegal for a few days we decided to have a meal in The Drift Inn which had been recommended by friends. Well it certainly did not disappoint. We arrived on a Friday night without making a reservation and even though they were quite busy we were taken to our table and within minutes a waiter came over to take our drinks order and left us to browse the menu. The meal was beautiful with plenty of choice, in lovely suroundings and the waiter was very pleasant. Worth a visit and highly recommend it.

“"drift in" for a wonderful meal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2012

stayed weekend in buncrana. was out for a walk and happened to "drift in". So glad we did, lovely fire and atmosphere. Went into restaurant and was so glad we. did. From the moment we arrived Emmett made sure we were seated and had drinks. Prices very resonable. 2 starters, 2 fillet steaks with a bottle of very drinkable house wine was 60 euro. Definitely worth a visit and Emmett a perfect host
