Description: The Drift Inn bar and restaurant Buncrana is one like no other, set against the windswept banks of the Lough Swilly it stands out as a main vocal point on entrance to the town. The Drift Inn has a history which many will agree compares to no other bars in Buncrana, once a functioning railway station up until the mid 1900's it has kept this theme very close to the heart of the bar with original railway timetables still to be seen on the walls of the premises and the water tower once used to fill steam trains standing tall at the rear of the premises. The drift Inn also has a strong connection with the sea as our name would suggest, the connection is carried through the bar and restaurant with our boat shaped bar the "St.Jude" standing strong over these many years having many drinks crossing her deck. The has a wide variety of areas for each patron to enjoy a drink or a bit to eat, the more relaxed harness room is an old favourite of many patrons with the open fire always blazing, the main bar boasts an open brick fire which ha been know the burn full trees in one day (depending on the staff working), then we have the more private "wee room" with a piano incase anyone is feeling musical after a few stout (which many think is the best pint of stout in the town). There is also two tv's which play all major sporting events and can be split between two to meet everybodys needs.

“Charming”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2011

Found this little gem on our trip to County Donegal. First day had a quick lunch but were so impressed that we came back the next day for a dinner. Not too sure if it was our luck or what but everything about this place seemed lovely. The staff were very friendly, the food reasonably priced and delicious and the most amazing thing was the ambiance. This place definitely has the character and charm. Would highly recommend especially now it is getting colder, where you could be chilling by a fireplace with a good atmosphere around.

“Excellent food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2011

Great atmosphere, great food, great price. 4 vegetarian options which is rare! Vegetarian linguine is fantastic. Lots of options for steak. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Couldn't recommend it more highly for an evening meal.

“Mc Gees Grill at the Drift Inn Buncrana - Great Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2011

I have stopped in this restaurant quite a few times over the past few weeks and I keep getting drawn back. They do a mean steak, great value on wine and have lovely big fires to add to the atmosphere. Try out the 30oz steak to share. It's a real treat. Definately worth the visit. Chef is rather attractive too!!

My husband and I visited this week again it was our third time the food has always been scrumptious the seafood chowder is the best I have ever had and the service is great our waiter was so welcoming. They have great offers on wine as well. Thanks to all the staff at the Drift Inn.
