“Lovely”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2013

We attended a wedding here & stayed the night. The hotel is a little old fashioned but that's not something that bothers me. The wedding meal was delicious & the service was great, the drink was reasonably priced too. The room was very clean, bed cosy & lovely & warm too. Overall we enjoyed our stay & would stay again.

Stayed here over the weekend, rooms are what they are in that they are clean, warm comfortable beds, could do with a little up dateing but only a little. The best asset the hotel has is its food amaxing in every way from breakfast lunch and evening meals in the restaurant and the bar if you happen to sleep in for breakfast they even have an amazing late breakfast at an excellent price. The food tastes so fresh when you get it no tired vegetables or lumpy potatoes to be seen, childen are also very well thought of here home made fish fingers and burgers that i would have easly have eaten my self. For the three days we stayed here the food was more than excellent. Try the caramel houdini for dessert first class have never seen this any where else. The food is also served by attentive waitress.

Room Tip: Great all round package in this hotel.

I was taken here with my wife last weekend for a bite to eat while visiting our son and his family in near by village of Burt on Friday night, as it was so good we returned on the Sunday night before returning to the west of Ireland where my self and my wife own and run a small hotel like this one and will take inspiration from the food here and try and adapt it to our menu (hope the chef does not mind). the food is first class in every way it is a step above the rest in hotel food in this country at the minuet the menu is well layed out with plenty of choice to suit any taste and a lot of options for coeliac customers, the vegetarian options a brilliant as my daughter in law pointed out being a vegetarian. I had the chicken Sorrento on my first visit on the Friday and the fillet steak on the Sunday both were just heavenly the desserts are an excellent way to finish your meal here obviously a lot of effort went into the making and presentation, I will rush back here to eat on my return to north Donegal again cant wait.

Room Tip: If you don't sleep here eat here.

Stayed recently whilst on a golf trip at this hotel. It was comfortable and clean but in need of a little refurbishment. The staff were first class and made the stay more memorable.
Had a good meal in their restaurant where the food was well prepared, well presented and tasted fine. A note to Guinness connoisseurs - the bar here has a fine pint of Guinness.
Cooked breakfast does not begin until 08.00 and the shower in my room was on trickle flow only. Apart from this it was very good value for a one night stay.

Not a lot of choices in Buncrana, hotel was OK for the value. Location was great for our interests, with Doherty's Keep a block away, with nice riverwalk. Townsfolk were very very helpful and friendly. Hotel beds were clean, and food was actually very well done, good chef on Board and restaurant staff were friendly and on top of everything. However, when we checked in hotel reception staff were more dismissive than happy to see us. We did not feel welcome. Bath was pretty bad, a lot of mold on walls and floor, trickle of a shower, and the walls too thin for a good nights sleep.

Room Tip: With such thin walls, probably not a great room in the place, but for the value and location, accept...

Having grown up around Buncrana, this in somewhere that I have been on numerous occasions.
The decor is maybe slightly outdated, but thats the only negative comment that I have.
The hotel is also situated very close to the beach and Swans park, which have some beautiful walks and scenic views...
I have been here on nights out, and the bar is spacious, with lots of seating, and very friendly bar staff. Having been here to eat, the food is always good, and good value too.
I have attended a few events here over the years, and have always found the events to be well done on the part of the hotel.
I have stayed once or twice, but any information I have on this would be very much out of date.

The price you pay is reflective of what you get: a basic, dates but clean room that's fine to sleep in!
The staff seemed a little disinterested in being friendly at reception but they checked us in efficiently and pointed out the way to the rooms clearly.
The shower was possibly the worst ever, just a dribble (other guests who were staying to visit the same wedding as us all said the same!). Luckily the bath is good, so ask for a jug in the bar to wash your hair!
Location is good to access all parts of Buncrana.
All in all it was Ok, just don't go expecting it to be great!
