My husband and I were referred to Headley Crt by the owner of Ashgrove B&B. It was our last night in Ireland before flying out of Shannon airport, 10 minutes drive away. Who would expect to find such a pleasant place to stay so close to an airport? Of the 10 B&Bs/mid-rangehotels we stayed in during our trip this ranked tied at the top (with Daly House in Doolin). Young owner Katherine Browne was knowledgeable about the airport situation (recent bomb scares), and pointed out the short cut to the airport. She also prepared a nice fruit & bread plate since our early flight meant we would miss breakfast. The room was very quiet, with an excellent bed and a very good shower. Hair dryer too. And wash cloths (mostly absent everywhere else). We enjoyed our dinner at Durty Nellies Pub, which is a genuinely cool, unassuming old place (1600's) with sawdust strewn over the floor. This B&B would make a good place to arrive for your first night or two in Ireland: get over your jet lag and check out the Burren region while you're at it. Without a car, though, you will have to get a taxi from the airport.

Pr os Very Pretty, spacious room. Extremely comfortable beds Clean.A touch of heat to take the chill out of the room much appreciated.

Cons: terribly squeaky floors . Hostess Kathleen, behaved as though having guests was a terrible inconvenience to her. Most unpleasant host I have encountered in all my travels. I go abroad 2 or 3 times a year.and greet my fellow humans with good will Have been all over Europe and a bit of Asia, and never encountered any one with her attitude. Maybe I caught her at a bad moment.

P.S. Had a wonderful meal and fun time at Durty Nellie'sabout a mile from Headley house.

My wife, adult daughter and I stayed by chance at Headley Court B&B for one night on 30 June 2006, as all hotels in the village of Bunratty were booked out. And we couldn't have chosen better if we'd tried. Kathleen Browne is the most pleasant owner of Headley Court, a four bedroom B&B at the end of Low Road, and about 3 kms from Bunratty Castle. Her home is set back from the roadway, with plenty of private parking. Our triple room with en suite bathroom cost us Euro 100 and was large, clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. Breakfast choices were extensive and included the choice of fully cooked or cereals, yoghurts, bread, toast, etc. This B&B is well located, and it is only a 5 minute drive to Bunratty Castle, Durty Nellie's and other restaurants in the village. Walking to the village is really out of the question, as the road is narrow with no shoulders, and carries considerable traffic. Shannon Airport is within a 30 minute drive. Pleasant owners enhance the enjoyment of a stay at any B&B. And Kathleen Browne is a young and lovely owner/ hostess, very keen to ensure that all guests enjoy their stay.

We stayed our last night in Ireland at this beautiful B&B/guesthouse. The rooms were the largest of any of the b&b's at which we stayed. The house was clean and modern with beutiful woodwork. Plenty of parking. A 5 min drive to Bunratty Castle / folk park and Durty Nellie's (would not try to walk since the road is narrow and there is not much of a shoulder in places).

Took around 15 to 20 minutes to get to the airport.

Breakfast was delicious although, if I remember correctly they did not have porridge available on the day we left (I got hooked on Irish porridge on the trip.. much better than american instant oatmeal). I would stay here again at a first or last night trip in Ireland. Although I would like to stay within walking distance of Durty Nellie's for at least one night so we could close down the pub and not have to drive to the room afterward.

We stayed at Headley House on the last night of our vacation in Ireland purely by chance. We had reservations at Inisfree house, but due to some confusion we could not stay there ( the landlady at Inisfree kindly contacted Kathleen and arranged for us to stay at Headley House). Even though we were unscheduled arrivals, Kathleen greeted us warmly and gave us some tips on where to find dinner.

The house itself is gorgeous and Kathleen has decorated very tastefully. I truly felt I was staying in an old-fashioned manor house. My wife thought it to be one of the two most romantic places we stayed in all of Ireland. Headley House has a breakfast menu that goes beyond the traditional "Irish Fry" and the meal was one of the best I had in Ireland.

Headley House is an excellent value and I would highly recommend it as a place to stay.

NOTE: Headley House is a bed and breakfast, even though TripAdvisor has it listed with the hotels.
