“Avoid at ALL costs - bad night's sleep - freezing rooms - will never stay again”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL IF YOU WANT A GOOD NIGHT'S SLEEP. My wife and I stayed here recently as part of a wedding party of about 20. The hotel is truley awful. Several of us had freezing cold rooms even though heaters were on!?! There were serious electrical problems resulting in NO power in some of the rooms! Problems were reported to management, who didn't seem to care at all. I wonder when they were last inspected by the Irish Tourist board? Guests were forced to move to different rooms. The hotel staff were friendly but the the front desk staff were extremely rude and unapologetic. An older female receptionist wearing glasses was particularly unapologetic and lied through her teeth denying there were any problems with power or freezing rooms. The rooms are very old and the entire hotel needs a updating. One other thing also, there is a niteclub which runs until around 3am. The music thumps up through the entire hotel so you will not be able to sleep when it is on. There are many superior alternative hotels and guest houses available in Tramore, I would encourage you NOT to stay here as you WILL regret it. If you do not believe me just take a look at the other reviews. You'll see a lot of people mentioning the freezing rooms! Management at this hotel at dishonest and are NOT to be trusted at all. I'm astonished that there are any positive reviews for this hotel at all, makes me wonder were they written by friends of the hotell!?!

I am very sorry that you were so disappointed with your stay at our hotel. We did have an electrical fault on the night of your stay - but this was caused by a devise brought into the hotel by another guest - this devise when plugged in caused the trip switches to go off, so the problem was caused by something we had no control over, and it took a long time to actually find the cause of the problem, but I sincerely apologise for the problem.

Of course, we take all complaints very seriously and do our very best to rectify any problem as quickly as possible. Once more I do apologise to you if you felt that our staff treated you with disrespect.

Our hotel is old, we do not claim on any website to be a new moden hotel, but we have got a modern heating system and most of our guests compliment us on the warmth of the rooms, but unfortunatily on the night of your stay - the electrical fault caused the heating to go off.
Like all hotels in Ireland we are inspected annually.

We are not dishonest .

I am sure that you were offered a discount on checkout for the upset of the previous evening.

“Great hotel !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2013

I stayed for 1 night on December 10th., 2012. The hotel is in a great location close to all amenities, beach, bars, restaurants, shops, entertainments. Service was great and everyone was very friendly. Great value also ! The bedroom was a nice size and very warm and cozy. Couldn't complain about it. I hope to go back in April. Brendan L.

“You need to be an eskimo”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013

Had booked hotel ages ago, they knew we were coming, when we arrived into are room it was freezing, the bed felt damp also the chairs in room. went down to reception and said about heating was told it would not be on until 4.30, the heating was turned off in the bathroom and also landing, hubby got into bed with clothes on to get warmed and when he got out he felt his clothes were damp. Booked out got are money back, went else where. the room should have felt warm when we went in,if this was o.k then we would have eaten there also but did not even eat. We were also told also at the reception desk that people stayed in same room last weekend and they were o.k. It was the 18th of Jan we were there and it was 3 - 4c I'm a carer for my husband and i put him first.Told them at the desk it was the worse place we stayed, we will never be there again......... all the hotels there need to be up dated

Room Tip: Heat when you want it

My sincere apologies for not having the heat turned on in your room on your arrival in early January. I know that the heating is timed to come on 4.30pm, as most of our guests are out during the day. However, when you asked for heat the receptionist should have changed the timer from clock to constant.

I do not doubt you when you say the bedroom was cold, but it was not damp as you stated, as all our rooms were used over the New Year & again For the January Darts Festival 12th to 14th January.

It was such a shame that you didnt go into the bar & sit by the fire - the heating is all day in our bar - until your heating was turned on.

Once again my sincere apologies for not having your heating turned on for your arrival.

“Brilliant christmas day”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2013

My father and I had a wonderful stay at O'shea's over christmas. We arrived late on xmas eve and nowhere else in waterford was open or willing to take us, so last minute, but when I rang and spoke to Mrs. O'Shea she very kindly let us stay at her hotel even though she was having her 25 plus family over for christmas. Not only this but she made xmas breakfast and xmas dinner for us even though she had so many people to feed. I won't forget her kindness!

Our room was excellent too, with a brilliant view of the beach. We could hear the sea roaring from our room. the room itself was great, very warm and clean and with plenty of room for my Dad and I. It's literally a two minute walk to the beach from the hotel so we went for a long walk across the beach on christmas day.

I would definitely go back and the O'shea's helped to make our Christmas day very special indeed!

Dan it was a pleasure to have you & your Dad stay with us, (albeit at short notice), over Christmas when the only available flight from the UK was into Waterford. We normally do not keep guests on Christmas Day as we reserve the hotel for our family. However, in the spirit of goodwill and like Mary & Joseph in Bethlehem, we would not see anyone turned away ! We are glad you enjoyed your stay with us and having you and your Dad added to the festivities. We hope that you will return to Tramore again one day - by choice! Best wishes for 2013.
