5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2012

My partner & I stayed at this hotel for 3nights.(Fri June 22nd - Mon June 25th) What a wonderful experience!!!. Mark & all his team couldn't have been more helpful & hospitable. Our room was spotlessly clean & comfortable. And, the food was most spectacular!!! Thousands of compliments to the chef!!!! I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone wishing to get away, or for an evening's dinner. We had planned on eating dinner there on our 1st night & then try some other restaurants on the other 2nights but we decided to eat there for the 3 nights.
We have decided that we will definitely return there again in the future. It is in an excellent location, right in the town centre.
Each member of staff were very friendly, any request was no trouble at all. I would like to thank all for their hospitality, friendliness & professionalism. And I wish both Marks the best of luck with their venture.

We stayed here for one night and would have loved to have stayed longer. Having worked in the service industry all our lives we do have certain expectations wherever we stay or eat. All these were met by Mark and his lovely friendly team - great attitude and nothing was too much trouble!
Wish we could have eaten there in the evening but our friends had booked another restaurant in town. However, if our wonderful breakfasts were anything to go by I think we sadly missed out on a great culinary experience. My smoked haddock was the most flavoursome I have ever eaten and the presentation was perfect!
We enjoyed the lovely spacious, clean rooms, enjoyed our drinks in the buzzing bar and loved the town!
Highly recommend and will definately make an effort to return for a longer stay. Don't hesitate to book - you will not be disappointed!

Myself and husband decided to getaway for one night and what night we had the room was clean and decorated beautifully but it was the food we had in the hotel made it for us. I love ribs which I had for starters and they were the best I have had in ages and the steak for main course was cooked perfect and my husband had the fish for his main course and that looked really good too. All I can say its really nice to have great food and a really good night sleep and I am looking forward to going back there again

Room Tip: We picked the deluxe room

After a night in Cork city with great weather continuing we decided to spend a night in a beach side down and chose Youghal because this hotel had gotten good reviews. So basically we came to Youghal to stay here. We weren't disappointed. Service was great the minute we got into the hotel. Its a small homey hotel with great cooking to a five star standard and rooms to a 3to4 star standard. Nice open air beer garden out back which could use more potted plants around it to separate it a bit more from the car park behind it. Rooms small and clean but 2 points: Our room was a bit bare and could've done with a few picture for ambience. Also TV's up in a corner of the room are a No-No as they look cheap and tacky (like you're staying in a hostel): TVs should be flat screen and eye-level with the bed post. That aside this hotel was a great choice and we'd go back.

Room Tip: Rooms to front are less prone to being too warm in good weather (on a sunny day rooms at back can be...

Being weekend residents of Youghal and looking for somewhere different to eat my wife and I decided to give the coach house a try.

To start Mark and his staff have to be commended for the service they provide as nothing seemed to be too much trouble. We decided to go for dinner around 7 pm when we called in we were asked did we have a reservation, which we did not but the girl who spoke to us told us we could be seated in the bar. The bar itself has a lovely old world charm to it and we were happy to dine in there.

We were no sooner sitting down when a young waiter came over with the menus and to take out drink orders.

Soon after he was back with the drinks and to take the order. They have two menus one a set menu and the other the a la carte menu. We were ordering from the a la carte menu my wife ordered the fish cake but asked could the dressing be changed as the fish cakes were also on the set menu but with a different dressing, he said he would check this with the kitchen to see if it could be changed. I had ordered the buffalo wings.

Shortly after an individual bread board was brought out with two slices of speciality bread but also a mini brown loaf which I thought was a nice touch and really good tasting.

The starters then came out, mine being a bowl of wings that took me forever to get through there was so many there and the fish cake with the dressing from the set menu which was appreciated.

For main course we had the sirloin steak and a warm chicken salad. The steak was served with a peppercorn sauce with caramelized onion with two fried onion rings on top. The steak was cooked perfectly (medium rare, requested) and was really tender and juicy. The dish served as a side were chips and as someone else pointed out probably the biggest chips I ever had in a restaurant which were served in a quirky little basket.

The warm chicken salad also looked really nice, it consisted of the warm chicken with small potato quarters, brie cheese pieces and on a bed of mixed leaves served in a large bowl. There may have been more ingredients in it but as I was not eating it I could not say. I thought to myself I must order that on my next visit.

For dessert we had warm apple tart which was served with ice cream and panna cotta also served with ice cream. The apple tart slice was good and large and the pastry good and fresh as if it had been baked that day. The panna cotta was also really good.

For drinks we had a bottle of Pinot Grigio which I found to have a crisp taste but not over acidic at the same time. When finished we finished the bottle of wine my wife was happy to find out the same wine was also available by the glass.

Overall we were very happy with the food and service and could barely walk out the door afterwards. We also found it very good value having a three course meal with two pints of beer, a bottle and a glass of wine for a very reasonable price.

A great edition to the town and look forward to going back sometime in the future.

We loved staying here and everyone made us feel so welcomed. When we got here the girl at the front desk took care of us right away by moving our room to the first floor (we had a ton of luggage for a wedding we were attending). Later the new owner helped us with exchanging our US currency since the banks were closed and many of the pubs were cash only. After a great night out on the town that included "The Nook" down the street and then "Moby Dick" (where they shot the movie) we came back to the hotel pub. Our friends were coming out and told us they just finished having the best meal in Ireland yet at the The Old Imperial Restaurant. We checked it out ourselves the next morning and got a chance to speak to one of the new owners. They took over in January and have already updated much of the hotel and are continuing to renovate (we were never disturbed by any construction). Stay here!
